Learning Support Teacher

Job Summary

At GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, we are looking for an experienced Learning Support Teacher to join us for the upcoming academic year. This is an exciting opportunity for a specialized educator who is excited to join our world class schools and is driven to provide education at an exceptional level.

Salient responsibilities:

• SEN focused student learning support through various stages of the IB Primary Years Program up to grade 5.
• Key supporter of the Teacher/ Lead Practitioner in promoting the learning and personal development of all students at school.
• Planning and delivery of support during lessons.
• Recording and reporting progress, areas of concern and achievements about supported students with relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
• Work closely with various Learning Support teams across the school to promote WAA’s principals and continuously improve its SEN standards.

Minimum requirements:

• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification specializing in Special Education.
• At least 2 years’ demonstrable experience teaching/supporting special needs students in an American/IB Curriculum School.
• Preference will be given to Learning Support Specialists with IB school experience.
• Have solid and demonstrable knowledge about behavior management strategies, including encouragement of good behavior and discipline.
• Be well-organized and an effective communicator to be able to influence students, parents, teachers and school leaders.
• Be willing to develop skills to acquire further knowledge and to continuously improve in a professional teaching and learning environment.
• Have belief that all students have the potential for top performance and hence recognize a teacher’s motivation, drive and passion as invaluable in enabling student success.
