Below you will find all the information on our financial aid program, including deadlines and a few frequently asked questions. Please call or email us at admission@holderness.org with any additional questions; we are here to help.
Holderness understands that not every family can afford the cost of an independent school education. Therefore, Holderness offers financial aid opportunities for qualified students. Approximately one–third of Holderness School students receive financial aid, totaling more than $3.5 million in awards annually.
An education from Holderness School is an investment in a child’s future. As such, it is our expectation that each family will contribute to the extent they are able, and, if qualified, with the help of a financial aid grant from available funds, make Holderness School a part of their child’s future.
Holderness School uses a nationally standardized system for financial aid offered by School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). Each family completes a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and submits it to SSS online at www.nais.org/parents. Upon your request, the PFS is sent to Holderness School (School Code: 3946). Financial documents required for submission to SSS will be handled with the utmost level of privacy.
The financial aid committee determines financial aid grants for admitted students based on a family’s demonstrated financial need. Although Holderness benefits from a robust financial aid budget, there is no guarantee that the full amount for which a family qualifies will be granted.
Any family with an “estimated family contribution” (assessed by SSS) less than the tuition charges for the year is eligible to receive a financial aid grant.
