Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School is committed to helping families afford an education and to assisting students from all backgrounds in having the opportunity to attend our School.

We recognize that families make significant investments and sacrifices in order to send their students to CH-CH. We thus offer financial aid resources for families who demonstrate a need as determined through the need-based financial aid application process. Each school year, the School awards over one million dollars in need-based financial aid to more than 25% of its students. Due to budget constraints and the amount of applicant needs each year, CH-CH cannot offer financial aid to all qualifying families, nor can the School always meet a family’s demonstrated need. Financial aid granted to a family is a gift from the School, and is not paid back to the School. Further, the financial aid application and awarding process is extremely confidential and individualized, and the financial aid office takes the utmost care to ensure that all families’ information is secure and that all families’ applications are given equal consideration.

In addition to need-based financial aid resources, CH-CH offers grants to prospective 9th grade students through the Charger Scholarship program as well as Merit and Waltham Scholarships to students of all grades. Charger Scholarships and Merit Awards are offered to applicants who exhibit any of the following qualities: leadership aptitude, a commitment to learning, community involvement, academic promise, potential to contribute significantly to our athletics and arts program, and potential to contribute positively to our residential life community. Recipients who choose to enroll at CH-CH will continue to carry their scholarship through graduation from our School.

Tuition

CH-CH recognizes the importance of the decision to enroll one's child in an independent school. That decision represents a significant philosophical and economic commitment. The financial policies of the school are intended to support that significant financial commitment being made by the family and are also intended to ensure sound financial practices.

The cost of this plan, $2,090 is billed directly to the student’s account and is due prior to July 1st of current year. An informational brochure describing the plan is enclosed. Please read the material carefully.

Required Deposits

  • Enrollment Deposit: A $5,000 enrollment deposit on tuition is required from all Domestic students. A $14,000 enrollment deposit on tuition is required for all International students. This non-refundable deposit guarantees a space for the student and will be applied to the first bill, which is due prior to July 1st of current year.
  • Dormitory Deposit: A $150 damage deposit is required for all boarding students and is refundable following satisfactory room inspection at the end of the school year and is due prior to July 1st of current year.

Financial Aid

Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School has a limited amount of financial aid available each year. CH-CH uses the services of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) to calculate a family’s need for financial aid. The Financial Aid Committee calculates awards for new and returning students by mid-March each year. After that time, families who would like to be considered for financial aid will be placed on a waiting list for financial aid. Financial aid applicants may qualify to have the school-imposed monthly finance charges on outstanding balances waived.

Tuition Refund Insurance (TRI)

Available through A.W.G. Dewar Insurance, TRI is mandatory unless tuition is paid in full by July 1st of current year. The premium will be charged to the first tuition bill, which is due prior to July 1st of current year. The rate of 3.2% is determined by A.W.G. Dewar Insurance. Only a percentage of tuition is covered. An informational brochure describing the plan is enclosed. Please read the material carefully.
