An independent school education can require a significant financial investment, but at CRMS, we do our very best to make the school accessible through a generous financial aid program. This year, close to $2 million in need-based financial aid was awarded to 41 percent of the student body. Through the school’s commitment to need-based financial aid, CRMS offers institutional grants and numerous payment plans to help you get the most from your investment.

Financial Aid

CRMS uses School and Student Services (SSS) to process financial aid applications. Based on the financial information families provide in the Parents’ Financial Statement, SSS provides an estimated amount a family can contribute to educational expenses. This estimate is a starting point to help the financial-aid committee make fair and objective financial aid decisions.

To be eligible for consideration for financial aid, families must complete the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and submit all supporting documents, including tax returns. There is still financial aid available for current year.

To begin a financial aid application for the upcoming school year, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Complete a Parent Financial Statement (PFS) Online

  • Go to sssbynais.org/parents to enter the PFS Online.
  • Create your PFS Online account with your email address and a password. If you applied for financial aid last year, log in to the PFS Online as a Returning Family, using the email address and password you set up last year.
  • Begin a PFS for Current Academic Year. You can log out of the PFS Online at any time and return later to complete it.
  • After you have pressed “Submit,” you’ll be brought to a payment screen. The fee of $42 is nonrefundable. Once your PFS is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the SSS system.

Step 2: Submit Supporting Materials to CRMS

  • IRS Form W2 and/or 1099 earning statements
  • IRS Form 1040 with all supporting schedules
  • Last year Student tax returns – if applicable
  • Business Tax Returns – required only for parents who own a business and/or a farm

Step 3: Submit a Personal Letter to CRMS

Families are invited to submit a personal letter to the Financial Aid Committee outlining any individual circumstances that the Financial Aid Committee should consider when determining your financial aid. Please be as specific as possible with dates and figures.

Award Renewals

Need-based financial aid is not automatically renewable. Every financial aid award is made for one year only and will be reviewed annually. Each year and for each child, parents must submit the necessary forms to School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS). Unless new information comes to light, and as long as financial circumstances remain the same, the Financial Aid Committee’s goal is to maintain funding at proportionate levels over a student’s years of enrollment. Current CRMS families who are not on financial aid and who have experienced unexpected financial difficulties may apply for financial assistance for the following school year.

CRMS reserves the right to amend awards if new information comes to light after enrollment.

Policies

Stay-at-home mom/dad: When the mother or father does not work, and there are no preschool children at home, the cost of an annual day student tuition will be added to the income of the family

Parent(s) in school: If either parent returns to school and is not working, the cost of an annual day student tuition will be added to the income of the family.

Additional information request: CRMS reserves the right to request additional financial information from aid applicants at any time.

Parents who own a business or a farm: All parents who own a business/farm will be required to furnish a copy of their current business tax return.

Student income: Parents are required to furnish a copy of the student's tax return, if applicable.

PFS adjustments: Computations based on the PFS will be adjusted to reflect figures shown on the tax forms. Funds will not be reserved for those whose PFS or tax forms are received after the deadlines.

Financial aid decisions: An application for financial aid is considered only after a student has been admitted to CRMS.

CRMS financial aid waiting list: Admitted students who qualify for need-based financial aid outnumber those who CRMS can afford to support; therefore, some admitted students will be invited to accept waiting-list status for financial aid.

Financial aid and spring/summer admission: Aid awards are made in the summer as, and if, funds become available.

Native American Scholarship

CRMS has a long history of education about and involvement in the Native American culture. Generous donations from alumni and parents have funded endowments that support two Native American scholarships. To be considered for a Native American Scholarship, please complete the regular financial aid process (outlined above). Applicants must also complete the Native American Scholarship Application Form.
