Maine Resident Students
Tuition for qualified residents of the State of Maine have been paid in full by Maine State Appropriations. Room and board fees, however, are the responsibility of the student's family. The application for financial aid via the third party, FACTS website can be accessed here. If you have any questions regarding the financial aid process please contact us at FinancialAid@mssm.org.
We do occasionally have space available to non-resident students. To learn more regarding tuition, room, board & other fees, please read our non-resident information below.
For non-residents, Tuition is $34,300 and Room and Board is $9,300 for the current school year. There is also a $5,000* Non-Resident Student Fee.

*A deposit is forfeited in the event of loss or destruction. An additional deposit is required to re-issue keys/key cards. Deposits will be returned upon receipt of undamaged keys at the end of the year. Once it has been established that a student has lost his/her key and charges have been submitted through the business office, no refunds will be made.
After being accepted, a non-refundable deposit of $5,000 must be made to reserve your space. The deposit will be credited to your invoice for Room and Board, Tuition, and Non-Resident Student Fee.
Initial invoices for admitted students are issued in July by the Business Office.
Payment in full must be made by August 1st of last year. Refundable deposits for keys are due with 1st payment. Families not meeting this deadline will not be allowed to register their son/daughter on move in day. Payments cannot be accepted on move in day.
Current Policy
Students who withdraw from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics prior to the end of the third week of the school year may be due a credit for the unearned portion of the Tuition, Room and Board, and Non-Resident Fee.
All of the aforementioned charges for the year are considered fully earned at the end of the third week of classes. For refund purposes, the school year begins on the first day of class in the year, regardless of the student’s first class day of attendance during week one and ends on the school’s determination date of official or unofficial withdrawal. The period of time used to calculate the refund is the first day of class according to the school calendar.
