At Hargrave, it is our desire to make a quality Hargrave education financially feasible to as many families as possible. Hargrave offers tuition assistance to qualified families. While tuition is often one of the first considerations when making a school choice, we want to ensure that we are selecting the highest quality candidates regardless of a family’s financial resources. We strongly encourage families to apply for tuition assistance, which is available in the form of discounts, scholarships, need-based assistance, or loans. The investment you make in your son’s Hargrave education is one that will pay dividends well into the future. 60% of the student body received tuition assistance.
Hargrave offers scholarships to academically qualified students (3.0 or higher GPA), students with previously demonstrated leadership experience, and students with a proven record of community service.
Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the student must be accepted in order to receive any Hargrave Scholarship award. All scholarship recipients are required to reapply for scholarship consideration annually.
Families applying for scholarships do not need to apply through FAST, but they must alert the Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee of their qualification and provide all necessary documents in order to receive the scholarship.

A private education is no longer out of reach for many Virginia families, thanks to the Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits Program (EISTCP), also known as the Virginia tax credit program. Hargrave Military Academy is an approved participant in this program, which may help offset some of the costs of attending Hargrave for many families. The Virginia tax credit program is available to families that qualify based on the following criteria:
If you believe that your family may qualify for the Virginia tax credit program, please inquire with the admissions office for more details. Individual awards are based on family income and location, and may serve as a substantial contribution towards your son’s tuition.
Educational loans are an additional means to help offset education-related costs. Unlike the scholarships and discounts listed above, a loan must be repaid as per the guidelines of the individual lender.
