Key Points
- School fees are reviewed each year and any changes take effect on 1st September and must be paid on the first day of term. See note 12 for our policy on late payment of fees.
- The expectation is that fees will be paid by direct debit.
- A non-refundable Registration Fee of £250 becomes due when a pupil is registered for admission to the School.
- Pupils entering the School (Year 1 of Pre-Prep and above) are also required to pay a deposit of £450 (approx. 10% of Senior Tuition Fee) which is returned when they leave, less any deductions which may become due. This deposit is also returned if a pupil is unable to join the School for bona fide medical reasons.
- For pupils from within the UK, EU or EEA who board, the deposit required is £1,000. For pupils from outside the EU/EEA who board, the deposit required is one term’s boarding fee (£6,741).
- Learning Support charges apply when it has been agreed that a pupil requires additional support beyond the normal curriculum requirements. Full details are provided when this agreement is reached.
- A term's notice in writing is required before the removal of a pupil, or a change of status from Boarding to Day. A full term's fees are payable in the absence of such notice. In respect of the discontinuance of voluntary extras, half a term’s notice is required, or half a term’s payment in lieu of notice will be applied. In either case, to be valid, such notice must be acknowledged in writing by the School.
- Children in Pre-Prep and the Prep School are able to attend supervised Breakfast Club and Supper Club in the main dining room. Breakfast Club begins at 08:00 at a cost of £3.20 per day and Supper Club operates from 17:00-18:00 at a cost of £8.50 per day. Pupils picked up after this time will incur a late collection fee. Senior School pupils can also have breakfast and supper at these times at a cost charged on a per item basis. All pupils wishing to attend should be booked in through the on-line booking system.
- Senior lunches are charged as taken and, if requested, a proportion of the annual cost (an average of £388 per term) will be added to the bill each term (other than for boarders where up to this amount is automatically included). The credit is applied to a charge card and top-up amounts may be purchased as required. A daily limit can be set on lunch card spend if requested.
- As far as is possible “extras” are kept to a minimum, but some additional charges may arise. For example:
- Examination fees+
- Field courses and educational visits
- Club and Society subscriptions
- Residential trips +
- Fees are payable for GCSE, A2 and IBDP/IBCP examinations; sometimes additional fees are necessary to cover individual examination access and arrangements such as the provision of an amanuensis. Please speak to the exams office to receive a full estimate of likely charges. Full details of any charge would be provided prior to it being levied.
- Ryde School is happy to accept Child Care Vouchers (CCVs). These vouchers can be used for the pre or after school care (including Breakfast and Supper Club) and certain boarding provision. Certain rules apply and if you are thinking of using this option, please contact the Finance Office for more information.
- Non-payment of fees and subsequent charges A surcharge of 2% per month above the base rate of the School’s bank is levied on late payers, accruing on a daily basis. In addition, after 7 days of non-payment of fees, the school will notify the parent and expect payment within 7 days. Failure to pay will result in the school sending a reminder by post and charging a £50 administration fee for this and each subsequent letter sent. If we elect to carry out this process by email we will charge £25 for each such email sent to you. We reserve the right at any time to refuse to allow a child to attend school while fees remain unpaid or there is a persistent default in relation to supplemental charges. Parents are responsible for paying the costs we incur in recovering, or attempting to recover, any unpaid fees or supplemental charges from you (including reasonable legal costs being costs that would be allowable by the courts if judgment was made in the School's favour).
Lower & Upper Nursery
- In the Nursery all booked attendance is charged for in advance. Extra sessions and lunches, taken at the discretion of the Head of Pre-Prep when places are available, will be charged for in arrears.
- In the Nursery, for eligible pupils, the first 15 hours is at the local authority funding rate and will result in no cost to the parent
