Job Summary

The Librarian Assistant, under the supervision of the Director of the Elementary and the Librarian, assists the Librarian in his or her daily tasks and contributes to the supervision of students during the periods at the Library (“BCD : Bibliothèque Centre Documentaire”) and contributes to the arrival and departure of LFS students during the school periods.

Responsibilities

Library Activities

  • Participating in the functioning of the Library (with or without the presence of the Librarian)
  • Making available, classifying and organizing documentary collections, books and information
  • Welcoming and advising users (students, teachers, adults) on the use of documentary materials and tools
    Assisting in the literature search
  • Recording and tracking loans, borrowings (registrations, issues, returns) of documents (books, iPads)
  • Taking care of the management of the books (tidying, repairing, referencing, etc…)
  • Participating in the renewal of document collections (inventory, stock management, orders, etc.)
  • Facilitating pedagogical sessions in English in collaboration or with the agreement of the Librarian
  • Updating, disseminating and communicating on news and current events on the Library portal

Pastoral Care Activities

  • Manage the flow of students between their class and the Library while ensuring compliance with safety measures, rules of community life and internal regulations
  • Welcome, accompany and supervise elementary school students upon their arrival and departure in the school

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of higher education
  • Native English or fluent in English required (C1 minimum)
  • Significant education or experience in the area of information and documentation
  • Experience in the school environment required
  • Knowledge of library management software desired (PMB)
  • Good communication skills with students and teachers are essential
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Be rigorous, respect confidentiality
  • Adapt to the needs of the school

Terms and Conditions

  • Part-time position of 38 hours/week (the full time is 42 hours/week)
  • Remuneration will be based on educative salary scale of the school
  • All school holidays minus one administrative week​
