We consider it an immense privilege to partner with parents in the education of their children. Our prayer is that every student at Lighthouse Christian School will develop. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Lighthouse staff are passionate, compassionate and intentional in the ongoing progression of our school motto, Committed to Excellence in Christian Education. From this motto, and from our study of best practice in high performing schools, we have developed twelve commitments to the Lighthouse Christian School.
We provide a superior academic climate through small classes, a rigorous curriculum and support where necessary to best prepare students to fulfil God’s will for their lives. Evidence-based teaching methods delivered by a skilled, passionate and compassionate expert teaching team ensure Lighthouse students are provided with high quality and effective learning experiences in every classroom, every day. Lighthouse staff are whole-heartedly committed to the mantra of providing Excellence in Christian Education for every child entrusted to our care.
Student learning is monitored regularly against clear benchmark levels of achievement. Small class sizes ensure individualised attention and learner progress. Students are acknowledged for excellence in both outcomes and effort. Lighthouse Christian School is committed to embedding best practice in every phase of learning and understands every student matters and that each stage of schooling is equally important.
Our school has a rich heritage from its beginnings in 1994. In the early 1990s, the leaders of the then Norman Park Baptist Church felt the leading of God to start a Christian School. In January of 1994, Norman Park Christian School, with just two classrooms, opened its doors to 25 students. Church buildings, grounds and facilities were developed through the pioneering work of the local church membership.
Year after year, the school has continued to develop to become a vibrant and effective ministry. In 2004, the school became known as Lighthouse Christian School. Now with over thirty staff and volunteers, Lighthouse Christian School serves more than one hundred local families in the education of their children, with enrolments drawn from the founding church, other Christian churches and from families who, while not currently attending a Christian church, desire an education that is based upon Christian beliefs and values.
