Job Summary
Emmanuel invites a highly motivated and passionate Early Childhood qualified Teacher to join its team in a part-time job-share position three days/week (0.6 FTE 7.6 hours/day between 7:00am6:00pm as rostered Wednesday-Friday) for a fixed-term contract . Kindergarten Teachers are employed in accordance with the College’s Enterprise Agreement (Schedule 10) and receive a gross annual salary classified as per the Teacher schedule. In addition to receiving four weeks of annual leave each year, this role receives a further 6 weeks of vacation leave. Subject to the approval of the Enterprise Agreement, vacation leave will increase to 8 weeks per year.
Selection Criteria
- QCT Registration, Bachelor Early Childhood Education, Senior First Aid Certification and Kindergarten Teacher Recognition with DETA
- Our teachers implement an emergent curriculum using a combination of their acquired knowledge of the children and their professional knowledge of the principles of early childhood development. This planning is informed by the National Quality Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Australian Early Development Index. Please provide a statement which demonstrates your understanding of Educational Program and Practice, and how you would practically implement the Cycle of Planning and Intentional Teaching within your classroom.
- Provide a statement of your Philosophy of Teaching and elaborate on your understanding of the philosophical approaches of Reggio Emelia, Vygotsky and Froebel and how these approaches have, or may impact your practice as a teacher.
- As this is a job share role, please provide a statement on the attributes you feel are important to ensure the provision of a quality service which promotes continuity in the program and facilitates harmonious relationships with families and team members.
- Little e’s Kindergarten’s philosophy is fully supported by our Christian ethos and is evident in all areas of our curriculum and pedagogy. Please provide a statement of how your Christian faith would be expressed in the workplace.
- Our service is committed to providing open and honest communication with families. Part of our assessment of children’s learning includes identifying areas which may require additional support or referral. Please outline your approach to communicating with families regarding their child’s progress and development, behaviour and any special requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
Professional Standards

Classroom Management
- Provide students with a safe and collaborative culture to achieve excellence, relative to individual requirements and in the best interests of the child.
- Be responsible for the education and support of the children within each allocated class.
- Know, plan, program and teach the Kindergarten’s curriculum guided by the learning outcomes of the approved learning frameworks, EYLF and QKLG and Christian Education.
Pastoral Care
- Be responsible for the nurture and care of the children within each allocated class, providing for the individual long and short term needs of each child.
- Develop open respectful relationships with each family.
Pedagogy
- Implement the Kindergarten’s Philosophy and Goals, in the classroom and other aspects of school life in a natural spontaneous way that will foster faith.
- Develop and implement an appropriate program that is consistent with the Philosophy, practices and policies of the Kindergarten.
- Effectively establish and carry out evaluation and reporting procedures in line with the Kindergarten’s licencing, accreditation and centre requirements.
- Replace this statement above with Implement the required standards of the National Quality Framework (NQF) with accountability to Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice.
- Maintain a high standard of work in the classroom, including comprehensive evaluation and assessment of each child’s progress, in keeping with required standards.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and current evaluation records to support the process of reporting to parents in the form of Transition Reports written form and verbally and at parentteacher interviews.
Christian Philosophy
- Willingly contribute to the spiritual growth and fellowship of the Emmanuel community.

Other Responsibilitie
- Take part in the professional review process as negotiated and implemented.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with Australian Privacy Principles.
- Involve parents in the program.
- Comply with all licencing and accreditation policies.
- Work collaboratively and collegially with the Director and other staff in relation to the day to day running of Little e’s.
- Attend Open Day
- Attend staff meetings, excursions, Parent/Teacher meetings and interviews.
- Be diligent and punctual with playground and rostered duties, and other school timelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of Kindy and child related matters.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance at lessons, complete roll in good time.
- Be aware of and implement all relevant Kindy policies as per College and Little e’s standards, as found on School box.

- Being informed of their responsibilities in relation to child protection including, but not limited to, all Child Protection training and being familiar with the Child Protection Code of Conduct.

Selection criteria are based on the essential requirements of the position and assess commitment, understanding, attributes, attitudes and values, particularly as they relate to children. They promote fair processes and equal opportunity, and set the standards which will be used to measure suitability. These standards will be fair, objective and measurable. Short-listing is undertaken by members of a selection panel. Only short-listed candidates will be interviewed. The interview will consist of a series of questions, based on determining the capacity of the applicant to undertake the position.
