LAE is in Stratford, East London, right next to the station and the Olympic Park. We are a sixth form that teaches only the A levels most favoured by leading universities and employers.London Academy of Excellence is the academic sixth form for independent thinkers. We are committed to our sixth formers developing the knowledge, skills and interests that will give them broad and rich life choices in a complex and changing future.
This academy was established in 2012 to provide opportunities for students seeking a high quality academic education in facilitating subjects and access to places at top universities. LAE has quickly established itself as the place to do just this. In just five short years, the Academy has rapidly gained a well-deserved local and national reputation as one of the UK’s leading state sixth providers, consistently securing some of the best A-Level results in the country and sending more than 450 of our sixth formers to Russell Group universities.
Since opening in September 2012, LAE has established a strong reputation for academic excellence across London and has consistently delivered the best outcomes for its students.
At LAE we are also firmly committed to developing the whole student. Beyond the confines of the classroom, sixth formers participate in a rich and varied co-curricular programme, including sport, music and the performing arts, which further enables each to explore their own interests, develop their character and maximise their own unique talents. Students have a strong sense of pride in belonging in the diverse, inclusive, high-performing and friendly LAE community and leave us after two years of study ready to make a positive contribution to the wider world as future leaders in their own fields. The academy has strong links with a number of independent schools.
Our core values underpin all of our thoughts, words and actions. We are proud to be an inclusive school community that promotes equality and an environment where cultural and religious diversity is regarded as positive and everyone can feel that they are able to express their viewpoints and beliefs in safety. The British Values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs are embedded throughout the school experience.
Our core values are Excellence, Humility, Independence, Kindness, Resilience and Respect. Our active Student Council plays a large role in exemplifying these values, as does our House system and the numerous charity events and activities that take place. Our students engage intellectually with controversial and contemporary issues through the lecture programme, PSHE tutorials and the large number of educational trips and visits that take place. The values and ethos of the school make it a truly special environment to study and work in.
We hope you will be struck as you walk through the corridors at LAE by the high level of academic buzz and intellectual curiosity. These characteristics are palpable. Sixth formers and staff alike come in each day with a desire and intent to stretch themselves and share their fascination for their subjects. A love of learning for its own sake is at the heart of every lesson.
This ethos is key to preparing our sixth formers for life at university, where they will follow their academic passions to an even higher level. Before LAE opened in 2012, there was a genuine paucity of opportunities for students in this area to take facilitating A levels and access top universities. We have quickly established ourselves as the place to do this. If you want to secure a place on one of the most competitive university courses, then come to LAE.
We have strong links with a number of independent schools including our six partner schools. Traditionally these schools have been the most successful at securing places for their sixth formers at Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities. You won't find these invaluable links at any other school. Coupled with our strong links with the universities themselves, our provision is truly unique and second to none

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
I would never have left his school if I didn't have to move to another country with my parents. But time at London Academy of Excellence was worth it. Overall a fantastic one year which I'll most certainly be looking back on with fond memories.

Been there from 2013 till 2015. I have noticed that LAE truly excels its commitment to diversity. Throughout my time at LAE I led an LGBT+ society. The school also encourages students to engage with black history month, hiv awareness and more.

LAE is the best place. If you want an accurate and representative review of LAE check out the college's press coverage which has been nothing but glowing. Thank you LAE, my son is now off to LSE and I couldn't happier.

If you are academically able and are willing to be stretched come to London Academy of Excellence! As with any academically rigorous setting the provision on offer won't fit the needs of all students, but if you're even considering it check out their website.

Teachers and all others working at LAE make it even more awesome. The teaching staff is incredibly welcoming and no matter how busy or occupied they were, staff always finds time to offer advice.

My daughter goes to LAE and i am impressed. The teaching quality, the resources, the support, the encouragement, the opportunities - everything's as it should be, and it's not a private school that she has to pay to go to
