Job Summary

BCIT’s School of Energy is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.5 FTE) Assistant Instructor in Mechatronics and Robotics. The successful candidate is someone who is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with broad, practical knowledge of mechatronics fundamentals. The successful applicant can expect to provide lab and tutorial assistance across a range of the mechatronics discipline, and must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

The Assistant Instructor may be asked to lead labs and tutorials or assist with maintenance of lab equipment in some of the following areas:

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Basic Robot Programming
  • C Programming
  • Microcontroller Programming and Interfacing
  • Machining and Fabricating

Qualifications

  • Diploma in BCIT Mechatronics and Robotics or equivalent.
  • Related industry experience.
  • Effective command of the English Language – both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Instructional experience is an asset.
