Fashionmasters is a private institution specialising in contemporary and relevant training for the fashion industry. Initially established as Melbourne School of Fashion in 1991, Fashionmasters now has campuses located in Melbourne and Sydney.
Fashionmasters offers a variety of courses covering all aspects of the fashion industry including design, production, marketing and retail. Our approach to education is developed in partnership with the fashion industry, so the studies are practical, hands-on and ensure our graduates are highly sought after. Class sizes are limited to ensure maximum attention from lecturers. Fashionmasters delivers nationally recognized programs ranging from entry level certificate courses through to the higher education Bachelor of Fashion and Business delivered in conjunction with Holmes Institute.
Our tutors at FashionMasters are like private mentors because each one of them is active in the fashion industry and therefore engaged in the business of helping you succeed in a boutique-learning environment. From fashion designers who run their own brands to buyers, stylists, image-consultants, PR executives and social media managers and bloggers, our academics are fashion and business entrepreneurs who work for some of the world’s most reputable brands. Coupled with our industry partners who also coach students through internships, guest lectures and “role shadowing”, this gives FashionMasters’ programs the edge in order to offer a very practice-led approach to undertaking a degree program. FashionMasters is a highly enjoyable yet practical degree program with a serious commitment to training for the fashion business and to mentoring young entrepreneurs from high school onwards to fulfil their dreams of becoming tomorrow’s fashion leaders.
With industry engagement which cuts across the industry as a whole - and not just at the design and production level - FashionMasters is proud of its well-trained alumni such as Christopher Avery (Victorian student of the year) and Brendan Smith who participated in the Arts of Fashion Foundation awards (Les Arts Decoratifs) in Paris in 2014. With brand new state-of the-art facilities in slick Sydney and stylish Melbourne, and both campuses located in the hearts of Australia’s most vivacious CBDs, FashionMasters reputation as an industry-relevant fashion program continues to grow. This is witnessed by the faculty’s own edgy in-house magazine, “F”: Creative Intelligence by FashionMasters; soon-to-be launched in 2015. Our industry partners involved at all levels of our programs.

Had such a great experience studying at MFI. The mentors are so knowledgeable and supportive and go above and beyond. The facilities are excellent, and administrative staff are so friendly. I would definitely recommend MFI to anyone wanting to pursue a career in fashion.

Teachers and Mentors are very professional, knowledgable and very generous with their time to help you understand and learn. Staff are very helpful, cheerful and ready to assist in anyway they can. The Grad parade at the end of the year 2017 was awesome and a fantastic way to celebrate 3 years of study and creativity. MFI certainly works together as a team to make all this possible.

I have recently commenced a course in patternmaking and construction with Melbourne fashion institute,
The course so far is evenly paced and quite easy to follow. Teachers are very friendly and the classrooms equipped with good equipment.
I'm hoping to do well and think by the end of the year I should be ready for entry level positions in the industry, saying that..there is a possibility of refining skills and going through to couture design in the second year which is also a consideration..

I studied Fashion Business part time, I only have good things to say. My mentor was FANTASTIC; passionate, extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond her duties as a mentor. MFI also went out of their way to assist me subsidise my fees when I became a permanent resident. I cannot recommend the school enough. I have studied previously in the UK, however studying at MFI was a different ball game, you're taught by industry professionals who teach you what you really need to begin a career in that particular field. Studying part time was also great, the schedule worked well with my current job and the work load was manageable. This school is offering something totally different to all the others and that's what attracted me to study here. I enjoyed the course so much I am considering studying again at MFI.

Enrolling and being accepted in Melbourne Fashion Institute was an answered prayer for me. I knew I was passionate about fashion, however, attending this institute has helped me discover it. The lecturers are very professional, with a lot of experience from the fashion industry. The students are all extremely friendly, I feel like I'm part of a family. I'm really grateful for this opportunity, and I am sure I will develop more skill which will be of benefit in the future God has planned for me.
