Millstead is an amazing provision full of wonderful people. We are a special school for fantastic and vibrant children aged 2 - 11 years, who have profound & multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and autism spectrum conditions (ASC). We have a staff team of dedicated, passionate and highly skilled practitioners who strive to make every day a joyful learning day for every pupil. We have 2 sites - one in the North of the city (Iliad Street, L5), and one in the South (Naylorsfield Road, L27). From September , the total number of pupils on roll will be 183.
Developing communication skills, promoting wellbeing and increasing independence are at the heart of our school offer. We have developed a curriculum which allows us to personalise each pupil's learning journey to fit their individual sensory, behaviour, communication, medical, physical and learning needs. Within a safe, calm learning environment which is tailored to their specific needs, our pupils flourish. Key to our success is the strength of relationships our committed staff have with each and every child.
Welcome to Millstead Primary School. There are 130 pupils on roll at Millstead School. 121 children have a Statement of Special Educational Need or Education, Health and Social Care Plan due to having severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties or complex autism.
9 children have an assessment place as it has been recognised that they have significant learning difficulties but professionals have not yet been able to establish their level of cognitive functioning to identify the best long-term educational provision. Some of these children may undergo statutory assessment. Some children may return to a mainstream school, a resource provision in a mainstream school or go on to a specialist school.
Pupils are grouped according to stage of development and follow a curriculum designed to meet their needs. Millstead is recognised as an Outstanding school, a MOVE Centre of Excellence and has been accredited by NAS (National Autistic Society); we are extremely proud of the achievements of all members of the school community. We strive to provide the very best learning and development opportunities for all and ensure a personalised learning journey for each individual. Millstead provides an holistic environment where we learn, care and achieve together.
