Birali Steiner School is located at Beachmere in the Moreton Bay Region of Queensland, Australia. The school is non-denominational, co-educational and currently offers classes Prep to Year Six. We now own 26 acres of land at Beachmere. We begin construction later this year and fully relocate in 2018. This expansive new land provides for our future development of the school as a whole, including our planned high school and pre-school facilities.

Steiner Education for your child encompasses a holistic educational approach, which balances academic, artistic and practical learning experiences. These are founded on the principles of anthroposophy set forth by Rudolf Steiner and adapted for our changing world. The Birali Steiner School is fully accredited (P-6) with the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board and is a member of both Independent Schools Queensland and Steiner Education Australia.

As a school, we believe that academia is best approached holistically. This style of education creates a lifelong love of learning with a curriculum responsive to the developmental phases in childhood. It is our vision to build a Steiner School that will set a positive foundation for a purposeful and productive adulthood and encourage productive community members of the future. Our Steiner School in the Moreton Bay area currently aim services Caboolture and surrounding suburbs, but our catchment area also reaches as far north as Caloundra and stretches south to Clontarf.

We have adopted the local Aboriginal word Birali, meaning “Creative Spirit” which embodies our vision for the Birali Steiner School as a productive space for children to learn and grow. With the help of local Elders, we are incorporating Indigenous culture into our lessons for children of all ages. We are hoping to use this opportunity to educate children and the whole community about our local history.

t is our aim to involve every facet of the Moreton Bay community in the development of the Birali Steiner School, and we look forward to cross-promoting and creating lifetime partnerships with local business and other community groups. We are proud to say that we have partnered with Beachmere Community Association to lease our current space, using the rooms and grounds of the Beachmere Community Hall. We have already received much positive feedback and support from the community for which we are grateful.

Birali Steiner School opened its doors on the 15th of April 2013. Since then we have continued to grow rapidly to the point we are now ready to transition to our permanent location. The school was founded from a labor of love by the founding parents for their children and a need they saw within the community. With much love, dedication, focus and many hours of volunteer time by the founders, community and the many professionals, the school become a reality.

Our school has received plenty of support from our local community and the broader Steiner community. Gifted the name Birali (creative spirit) by a local Indigenous elder, Birali Steiner School values our strong ties to the locations First People. We greatly value the blessing they have bestowed upon us and their continued support for the school.

Birali is very fortunate now to have Chris Jack, formerly educational administrator at Samford Valley Steiner school as leader of our young school. Chris provided guidance and support to the founders since the inception of the school, and has now stepped in to continue to guide and direct Birali to fulfill the founding vision in his role as Principal.
