Mount House is a school where students successfully combine intellectual endeavour with enthusiastic engagement well beyond academia. It is a small school with a significant sense of community, which supports students to achieve excellent exam results alongside sporting accolades and success in all creative arts including music and drama. Most importantly of all, its boutique size allows the curation of a totally bespoke approach to guiding each student, as they in turn contribute to the creation of a stimulating and happy community all supporting each other.

Successful schools are about the personal development of each child as an individual, and the development of each child’s skills and knowledge to enable them to make a positive contribution at school and in their adult lives. At Mount House, students combine intellectual endeavour with an enthusiastic engagement which extends well beyond the classroom.

We are a small school with a significant sense of community and we encourage students to aim high, to work hard to be the best they can be – whether it’s in the examination hall, on the sports field, on stage or in the creative or performing arts.

Our small size is critical to creating those opportunities, and allowing us to guide each student so that they in turn can contribute to the creation of a stimulating and supportive community. We consider it a great privilege to be able to lead a unique school which is able to offer such a wonderful educational experience.

Academic achievement is of course integral to our students’ time here, but we would be disappointed if young people left Mount House with excellent exam results alone. Our goal is that students become confident and independent learners, prepared to tackle new and challenging ideas, undaunted by risks, and able to learn from failure. Our school motto “Inspiring Every Individual” exemplifies this idea – at Mount House each person learns to be intellectually curious, optimistic and determined in all that they do – but to do so while making a contribution to the whole community and developing a sense of fun which will serve them well in life.

Our commitment to character education ensures teachers and students work collaboratively in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Students are supported to become responsible for their own development, becoming intellectually curious, resilient, independent young people with good moral character.

Teaching is in small classes and is based on teachers’ knowledge of every student, enabling specific targeting to support, challenge and stretch all learners. Each child is nurtured and supported, ensuring that they are safe, valued and enabled to fulfil their potential.

Our ethos of genuine partnership between the School and home contributes significantly to the success of this school and the very best outcomes for our students. A culture of open, honest and frequent communication between the School and home is hugely valued by our parents.

School days have a powerful influence on future success in life and we believe a Mount House education provides the best start. Our students achieve excellent academic qualifications, with the overwhelming majority going on to study at their first-choice university. They leave us as bright, articulate, thoughtful and intellectually curious students with a strong moral compass and a great interest in the main issues facing the world in the twenty-first century.

Great school. My daughter loves the informal 'family' feel. Unique approach to studies. First class pastoral care. Teachers and Head very supportive. A safe happy school.
