Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University

Since its founding in 1911, State Pedagogical University of Nizhny Novgorod has launched more than one hundred educational programs, and thousands of educators have been trained. In 2011, we named our university after Russian patriot Kozma Minin, who is strongly associated with the city of Nizhny Novgorod and Russian history. Despite its long history, Minin University has a start-up feel as it moves to fulfill the educational standards of the new century.

Today, Minin University is an educational institution where e-learning, high-tech studying methods, and student project activities are applied. We are proud of our high rate of advanced employment and adaptive entry to а future profession for Minin University’s graduates. We do believe that the University for a student is a starting point for both a strong educational and a strong life trajectory. Minin University will never turn into a generic educational institution. Our priorities are developing the disciplines that represent the highest scientific and academic potential of Minin University and supporting their relevance in Russia and worldwide. The mission of our University is to train innovators who will become professionals in their career with interdisciplinary education and abilities to anticipate and adapt to the future, acting decisively.

Mission of Minin University: ‘Higher school of pedagogics: from personal success to national development’ The set of goals to guide the reform of teacher education, lies in conjunction of expert assessments developed, including those by the framework of the Ministry of Education and Science "New Leaders of Higher Education" (2012 - 2013) by the "New Teacher Education" group and forms the basis for the project "Minin University" represents a transformation system going from " modern teacher education" to "teacher Education for the Future" by the transition:

• From linear to non-linear model of the organization of the educational process and teaching logistics, providing modular schemes and practice-oriented basic educational programs;
• From standardized to team-individual training model that provides both the implementation of individual educational path and the formation team-working competencies and preparation of "change teams" that will work in schools;
• From geographically– fixed to open universal model that provides a system of integral practices, high mobility, partnerships and export of the domestic model of teacher education;
• From the “Lecture/ seminar” system to the project-oriented team learning;
• From Subject- to Human-oriented model, recognition of human capital for the status of a fundamental resource for the development of the country and the region, ensure the development of personal and team initiative, freedom of creativity, intellectual aspirations, cultivation of personal success, awareness of the need for civil liberties and personal responsibility for the sake of national and regional development.

In scope of this array of challenges, trends and risks in 2012 in Nizhny Novgorod region the project "Minin University" was launched, in 2013 an agreement was signed with the Ministry of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, that recognized this project as the "support regional university on pedagogical, psycho- pedagogical, speech pathology, humanitarian education and education in the field of culture and art and physical education", which provides a sustainable regional social development through the formation and development of personnel potential among teachers in the run up to 2023.

Kozma Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University is one of the oldest pedagogical universities in Russia, the traditions of which originate from the beginning of the XX century. Today, our university is an educational platform for more than ten thousand students from more than half of Russia and nearly 30 countries around the world. Minin University - is not only pedagogy and psychology. We prepare professionals at six departments in more than 150 educational programs, including both humanitarian and engineering profiles. We have implemented an advanced student quality rating system, allowing each Minin student to start forming their portfolio - a summary comprising all the achievements obtained during the study - already from the first year. Given the high level of academic training, deep involvement of students in pedagogical and practical training, we allow graduates to come into a great demand in the labor market. We highly appreciate and encourage our students: a developed system of measures on social support of students includes classic and personal scholarships, grants and incentive payments.
