Northbury primary School is a welcoming, vibrant and supportive school located in Barking. We are a 4-form entry school, with a Nursery which also offers full time places, providing children aged 3-11 with meaningful and exciting learning experiences.

At Northbury, we aim to create an environment which is purposeful, engaging and inclusive at the heart of our culturally rich and diverse community. Northbury  is a place where children are nurtured to be resourceful, independent learners; a school where children develop a thirst for learning which will stay with them throughout their lives.

Our Vision
At Northbury Primary School we enable every individual, regardless of ability, to achieve their full potential, to prepare for future life and to become lifelong learners. We seek to develop self-confidence, respect and tolerance towards others, where every child feels valued and is enthusiastic to learn. We strive for every child to have a thirst for learning and to become model citizens equipped for the challenges of the 21st century.

Our Curriculum Intent - At Northbury Primary School, the curriculum is designed to encourage our children to think globally and act locally. Our school motto ‘Achieve and Enjoy Together’ reflects the vision we have for our curriculum which aims at raising children’s interest in the wider world, provide first- hand learning experiences, allow children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers.

We recognise that every child is unique; we celebrate and welcome differences and diversity in our school community. The ability to learn, at Northbury, is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values.

We strive to provide opportunities which are enriching and enhance learning and believe that all children should be happy, enjoy learning, have no limits to their curiosity and learning opportunities and a thirst for new and exciting experiences.

We believe a growth mindset ethos promotes positive attitudes to learning and reflect the values and skills needed to encourage responsibility for learning and future success. Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate local traditions, learning new skills to enable the children to take an active role in events throughout the year.

We want children to leave our school with a sense of belonging to a tightly knit community where they have the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners.

My son loves his school, teachers are amazing. The school is always organising activities and having external visitors in to teach and show the children exciting new things. I so wished I would have sent my daughter to this school.
