Many of our children start their educational journey with us when they enter our Nursery, whilst some join us later. No matter when your child joins our school, you can be sure of a warm welcome.Making sure you and your child/children feel happy and secure with school makes for a positive relationship where your child/children will thrive.Peel Hall is about “Working Together for Success”. We are a welcoming, inclusive, inspiring and caring community that respects and values everyone.
Within our school it is our shared vision that all staff, children and their families engage fully in purposeful, fun, educational activities in an inclusive environment that is happy, safe and secure. We expect the staff of our school to be passionate about their teaching and our children to be passionate about their learning; to develop strong character traits of self-confidence, self-motivation and resilience. We want our staff, families and children to be able to embrace change and challenge in order to make a positive contribution to the school, local, national and global society in which we live. We aim to empower lifelong learning through honesty and openness about our strengths and various developmental needs.
Children are admitted to the Nursery from a waiting list. The minimum age of entry is 3 years old and children usually attend on a full-time basis after an initial staggered intake, the length of which is based upon the child.Admission preference is given to children who have a brother or sister already attending the school, as well as on the basis of distance between home and school. Children who live closest are given priority.
Children are admitted to the Reception class in the September of the year they are five. Admissions to the Reception class are controlled by Manchester Local Authority, who will send admission forms out to parents in the Autumn term before they are due to start. Parents/carers wishing to view the school are very welcome. If you require a place for your child outside of the Reception class, in years 1-6, the same admission procedures have to be followed as for the children entering Reception. Parents can contact the school to see if we have any vacancies in their preferred year groups, but they will also need to contact Manchester Local Authority Admissions so that their child can be placed on a waiting list, and a place to be allocated to the school when possible.
The vision for our curriculum is to provide an enabling curriculum for all students which fosters a positive attitude and develops pupil motivation towards independent learning so as to help pupils see that learning is a life long process. Our curriculum provision is to ensure that quality and consistency is delivered within each class through a thematic question led approach so as to make sure that all pupils make good or outstanding progress. It is to offer all children opportunities which are planned around statutory requirements, children’s own interests and needs. Our curriculum involves teachers working in partnership in terms of it’s development with our children and parents so as to provide a broad and balanced curriculum.
The School motto is the premise from which we start. At Peel Hall Primary School we believe that there is nothing more important than strong positive working relationships within our community. Positive relationships allow everyone to achieve their maximum potential and growth. Our belief is that School should be a happy, safe and secure place where everybody’s needs are met.
Our behaviour policy reflects the overall positive approach we have in our School towards all aspects of the child’s learning and development. However, the school has a statutory duty to discipline pupils. Within our school we see discipline as leading, guiding, encouraging and instructing children, within a framework of rights, responsibilities and rules in order to achieve responsible behaviour. Thoughtful discipline has an educational focus. It is preventative and educative as well as corrective. However, some children due to their additional needs or children who abuse our behaviour management system will need a more individualised approach to be taken. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss individualised strategies so as to be in a position to show their willingness to support school.
At Peel Hall Primary school we are an inclusive school that meets the needs of a wide range of children. These needs range from children with social and emotional difficulties, children with behavioural difficulties, children with medical conditions and children with cognitive and processing difficulties. We are not a special school, but we pride our self on the fact that we try our very best to meet the needs of all our children in order that they can be the best they can be.
The provision provided in school begins with universal support in the classroom, which involves quality first teaching. The next level of support is through use of targeted support and interventions within class to ensure all children are being moved towards meeting national expectations in terms of milestones. A further level of support children receive if the school feels, in consultation with parents, that a child’s difficulties are acting as a barrier to learning, is the involvement of external agencies, such as Educational Psychology, Play Therapy, communication and language groups and Speech and Language therapists etc. Where multi agencies become involved parents are invited to participate in an MCAF (Manchester Common Assessment Form). This is so efficient use can be made of time and money to ensure children receive their entitlement.
