Job Summary

The Chicago Academy for the Arts, Illinois’ premier visual and performing arts high school, seeks a part-time photography instructor.

Applicants should have the ability to teach and structure an introductory digital photography course and have a vision for developing curriculum for advanced students. This position falls under both Media Arts and Visual Arts Departments. Classes will take place from 1:30-4:30 one day per week. Day to be determined. Successful teachers at The Academy are passionate about their subject area and its pedagogy committed to ongoing communication with parents, and believers in the ethos of independent schools.

Instructor responsibilities include: 

  • Commitment and dedication to The Academy’s mission
  • Advisement of all students and participation in student reviews, department critiques, special events and exhibitions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with and maintain communication with fellow teachers, administration, and parents/guardians
  • Performing related duties as assigned

Ideal applicants will have an MFA degree, and at least several years of teaching experience (including experience teaching at the high school level).
