We support this mission by providing developmentally designed programs and methodologies based on Montessori philosophy. We dedicate ourselves to lifelong learning. Dr.Maria Montessori’s Aim was to help children attain their maximum learning potential, while becoming well balanced individuals able to cope with the emotional social and practical pressures of modern day living. At Pierhead we keep these aims alive.

The children enjoy physical activity set to thier developing age. Using St Goerges Memorial park which is set behind the school we really benefit from this feature. The school has also partnered with Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre which is where the school is based and they rovide excellent specialist adventurous activities on site including; indoor and outdoor climbing, high ropes and paddlesports using the Shadwell Basin which is thier licenced property .

The climbing programme has been designed to introduce a new skill, improve hand to eye co-ordination and increase fitness. Team building, sharing, and caring have also played important roles. The children were able to explore their potential and increase confidence through games and challenges. Bell Boating and Rafted Canoeing on Shadwell Basin has been a great success. The children learn new skills which progressed from the Bell Boats to Rafted Canoes.

Physical Education stimulates healthy growth and development and builds strong bones and muscles. It provides the opportunity to develop fundamental movement skills. It also improves concentration and thinking skills, relieves stress, promotes relaxation and improves sleep. Building confidence and self-esteem come with enjoyment, play and participation.
