Portside Christian College is a co-educational, interdenominational college that caters for students from three years of age in the Early Learning Centre right through to Year 12. It was established in 1976 as a ministry of Portlife Church, a member of CRC Churches International. At Portside Christian College, we endeavour to help each student reach their full potential through high quality education coupled with supportive relationships with parents and students.

Welcome to Portside Christian College!  As the new principal, it has been a delight to get to know you as parents as well as our fabulous staff and students.  It is clear our school is known in the community for its positive culture and for its genuine care and support of learners.

Situated at the heart of the New Port Keys redevelopment, our purpose is to educate students for life. Portside Christian College offers a world class Early Learning Centre using the Reggio Emilia approach. Our Primary and Middle Years use the Australian Curriculum. We offer both SACE and a wide range trade certificates through our Trade Training centre for our senior students. Our graduates have successfully completed from a wide range of university degrees and trades with positive personal skills that will last them a lifetime.

It is a privilege to share my experience in school leadership, teacher education and as an Understanding by Design curriculum consultant and want to apply this to support continuous school improvement.  We believe that every child is worthy of our best – that includes your child!  Our values are distinctively Christian and convert into real action.  They infuse everything we do from our conversations to curriculum.  We believe:

  • In the Bible as the inspired Word of God
  • In God, the Creator, who has revealed Himself in the Persons of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit
  • In the Divinity, the virgin birth and the sinless Humanity of Jesus Christ, and in His miraculous ministry, His suffering and death on the Cross as the only Saviour for the sins of the world, and His resurrection from the dead
  • That Jesus will return to the earth as its final Judge of the living and the dead
  • That all people fall short of God's perfect standard and can only find forgiveness through faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ
  • That all people who have put their faith in Jesus Christ will witness a transformation in their lives, exemplified by repentance and holiness of conduct
  • In Christian Baptism, by full immersion in water, of those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ
  • In regularly celebrating the Lord's Supper, remembering Jesus Christ's saving work
  • In the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, with the normal initial evidence of speaking in unknown languages
  • In the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • That God heals the sick today through active faith in His grace
  • In the power of prayer
  • In God's community of believers, the church and its responsibility to spread the message of the Gospel to all people and nations.

Our purpose as a College is to equip students for life. We believe our task is to help children develop their academic, social, physical, emotional and spiritual potential by providing a caring and supportive Christian education. All of our teachers are committed Christians who aim to model Christian values and educate our students from a biblical worldview, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and wisdom they need to face life's challenges. This includes helping our students know who they are in God and encouraging them in their relationship with God. Because we know that if our students can leave our College loving God, loving people and loving life - then no matter what they choose to do they will make a huge difference in this world.

We will equip our students for life by encouraging our leadership team, staff and students to live our values every day. Christ is at the centre of all our values, as He is the centre of our lives. Being Christ-Centred is essential to making our values meaningful and powerful.
