The specific Dubai prayer time can change daily, depending on the position of the sun.
In addition, Muslims hold a congregational prayer, called Jum’ah, at the mosque on Fridays. When Muslims pray Jum’ah, they are not required to pray Dhuhr afterwards.
Five times every day, all Muslims pray at the same time, facing the same direction.
Salat is the second of the Five Pillars of Islam. It requires all Muslims who have reached puberty to worship five times daily, facing the holy city of Mecca. (Women who are menstruating or women who have recently given birth are excluded from the requirement.)
It’s preferred that Muslims offer their prayers in a mosque, but if they are unable to, they can pray anywhere as long as it’s clean.
Each prayer consists of a number of mandatory rakat:
Fajr: 2 rakat Prayer before dawn (before sunrise)
Dhuhr: 4 rakat Prayer during midday (after the sun has reached its zenith)
Asr: 4 rakat Prayer during the late part of the afternoon
Maghrib: 3 rakat Prayer just after sunset
Isha: 4 rakat Prayer between sunset and midnight
Muslims can pray in any clean place, not just in a mosque. Most shopping malls in Dubai, including office towers and community centers have dedicated prayer rooms.
Muslims must wash themselves before praying (wudu). While praying they must face in the direction of the Kaaba, Masjid Al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. From any point in the world, the direction facing the Kaaba is called the Qibla.
There a number of mosques in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (UAE) that allow non-muslim visitors. The Jumeirah Mosque and Omar IbnKhattab Mosque in Dubai and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
