Professor Architectural Design and Building Typologies

Job Summary

We are looking for a personality with a recognized body of architectural work as a practicing architect. Publications should demonstrate innovative approaches to the development of building typologies. In research and teaching, we expect excellent specialist knowledge in the field of building theory and the development of new building typologies that address current social and technological changes.

In the bachelor’s and master’s program, the compulsory and elective subjects of building theory and design are to be taught, and the master’s thesis is to be issued and supervised. Research activity is expected and should include:

• Design methodology
• Programming of buildings
• Development of novel building typologies against the background of social change such as migration and demography as well as climate change, technology and digitalization

A pronounced willingness for national and international cooperation and interdisciplinary work both within the department and with other departments and research institutions is expected. The prerequisite is a completed degree in architecture and subsequent practical and scientific work as an architect. The didactic-pedagogical aptitude as well as the willingness to work in academic self-administration are required. Very good knowledge of German and English is desirable.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “W-Besoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate.
