The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Full Professor in Hydraulic Engineering. The position is a tenured W3 position. The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering. The professor will be head and appointed Director of the Oscar-von-Miller-Institute in Obernach. The professorship will be embedded in the departments focus area Hydro & Geosciences.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of hydraulic engineering with a focus on the planning and management of Hydraulic Constructions and their interaction with surface waters. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. Active engagement in the development of an integrated research network on Hydro & Geosciences is expected.
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad as well as the full commitment to do interdisciplinary research is expected. The successful candidate shows the proven ability and experience in science management and in leadership, and to attract third-party funding (DFG, EU, AiF).
