In addition to basic lectures on technical mechanics, lectures from the field of numerical mechanics will be offered in the basic subjects and the research-oriented special subjects in the German and, in future, English language teaching of the undergraduate bachelor’s and master’s programmes of the faculty. In addition, courses are to be offered in the interdisciplinary Mechanics Department of the TU Darmstadt. The application of new forms of teaching and learning is desired.
We expect a scientifically proven personality with excellent specialist knowledge and comprehensive practical engineering experience in continuum mechanics, also preferably acquired outside the university. In-depth knowledge is expected in several of the mentioned or equivalent research areas for the continuation and expansion of research. The readiness for national and international cooperation and for interdisciplinary work both within the main research areas of the department and with other departments is required.
The prerequisites are a degree in engineering followed by a qualified doctorate at a university and appropriate professional experiences, didactic and pedagogical aptitude, very good knowledge of German and English as well as the willingness to work in academic self-administration.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “W-Besoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under
