The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at TU Eindhoven (TU/e) is looking for a full-time full professor (1.0 fte) in statistics with a focus on network analysis. The full professor will be heading the Statistics group, which is currently led by Prof. dr. Edwin van den Heuvel. The Statistics group, the Probability group (prof. dr. Remco van der Hofstad), and the Stochastic Operations Research group (Prof. dr. ir. Sem Borst) currently form the section Stochastics within the department.
We expect the candidate to contribute to the research program of the Stochastics section, on all (strategic, tactical, operational) levels, especially in the interplay between the Stochastic Operations Research and Probability group. The candidate will play an active role in Eurandom. Additionally, you will work closely with other groups who focus on data science (e.g. data mining, process mining, data bases) and will establish and strengthen contacts with other departments of TU/e. The candidate will also be involved (preferably in a leading role) in the new AI institute (EAISI) of the TU/e. Proven involvements in interdisciplinary research projects are encouraged. And also attracting external research funding with external organizations is requested.
Furthermore, the candidate will teach several courses per year in different education programs, but especially in the data science programs, and the candidate is also encouraged to perform managerial tasks. Therefore the candidate need extensive teaching experience inside or outside a university on an academic level, with proven didactic qualifications and an inspiring personality as a teacher. More specifically, the tasks include:
Stimulate fundamental and applied research of the group, to initiate new research directions regarding statistics and networks, and to establish links with other research programs at TU/e and at Eurandom;
Initiate, acquire and coordinate research projects, in particular in the context of external funding. The candidate should have a deep and broad insight in the required research domain and should be actively involved in the research area.
