Queens Park Community School is a centre of academic excellence at the heart of our community, with the highest expectations for all of our students. We know that our community shapes who we are, and all members of our school community are expected to be responsible, respectful and resilient. We are proud of the expertise, quality and commitment of our teachers and support staff. At QPCS, it is not about where you are from – what really matters is where you are going to; and our former students demonstrate the success of our ethos.
There is a balanced curriculum at QPCS so that your child can develop all their academic interests. The school is securely resourced and uses funding carefully to support an impressive curriculum including excellent academic enrichment opportunities for the most able, to secure their pathways into medicine, law, the media, finance, sports and the arts. The school also offers additional support to meet students’ needs, such as literacy and numeracy groups.
Teachers and students have positive relationships and develop a strong sense of collaborative working. Most of our students stay on to QPCS Sixth Form and then progress to university, including Oxbridge, Russell Group and Ivy League. We are equally proud of our students who have achieved success via vocational routes into employment including apprenticeships. We maintain strong links with our former students who are proud to say, “Queens Park Community School shaped who I am.” Our ethos inspires our alumni and our community partners, so they offer powerful networks to support QPCS students to achieve their life goals.
QPCS learns from research to provide the best education for your child. There is a wealth of evidence that students achieve more when schools engage with parents and work as part of the community, as we do. This sets us apart from most London secondary schools. Another unique aspect of education at QPCS is our commitment to mixed attainment teaching in the majority of our lessons. Research and our experience show that mixed attainment teaching gives all students the chance to achieve their very best. Our results demonstrate this success, with our highest attainers making great progress and achieving grade 9s at GCSE, and A* s at A Level; whilst also benefiting from truly diverse classrooms and insights into different ways of thinking.
For their children to flourish, parents must support our ethos and our strict behaviour policy. Parents must also commit to supporting their children to have 100% attendance at Queens Park Community School. If the school has any concerns over your child’s attendance, our Education Welfare Officer will work with you to ensure that this improves, including making home visits and where necessary, involving the Brent Education Welfare Service.
QPCS welcomes disabled students, staff and parents and aims to make all of our provisions fully inclusive. Students with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan are given priority in our admissions criteria. As part of the admissions procedure their families will meet with our SENCO to discuss their specific needs.
