In 1959, a group of 20 concerned citizens organized a society to start a private school and founded Randolph School. Randolph started its mission with a handful of elementary classes in an antebellum home on Randolph Avenue, the street from which it takes its name. Within a few years, the School relocated to a spacious, 16-acre campus on Drake Avenue. The School’s rigorous college preparatory curriculum and successful alumni rapidly became the pride of the Huntsville business community.

Since those early days, the School has maintained high academic standards in all curricula. Randolph students consistently perform at a high level and excel in academics, the arts, and athletics. After 50 years of success, Randolph opened its second campus on Garth Road. A strategic planning process was implemented by a steering committee of teachers, administrators, trustees, and students to stay on the path for continued growth and development.

Randolph School is where K-12 students become lifelong thinkers, creative problem solvers and fearless leaders as they learn to embrace their full potential, prepare for a purposeful future and create epic possibilities for success. Randolph opens doors to epic possibilities by providing students with the skills and structure for lifelong success, the confidence to experiment without fear of failure, and the unlimited imagination to pursue a broader life vision. Our students are not only prepared for acceptance to the higher education institutions of their choice, but also ready to flourish there.

Randolph School provides a rigorous and well-rounded K-12 college preparatory education within a nurturing community. Through a commitment to excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics, the School’s program and its faculty demand diligence and discipline while encouraging creativity and discovery. Above all, the School emphasizes honor, integrity, and character so that all in partnership with Randolph are elevated and inspired to enrich their families, communities, the nation, and the world.

Randolph was founded with a commitment to educating students who are “willing and able to do good work.” At Randolph, we know that every child is unique across a range of personal attributes and qualities. We are proud of the work that we do at Randolph to continue to redefine the experience of education away from received notions of learning and of school. The world is changing too quickly now to cling to those notions.

We are proud that we are adaptable, and that by extension our students are adaptable – intellectually and socially nimble and flexible as they face a future that will only demand more nimbleness and flexibility of them. We are proud of the growth opportunities that we provide to our students, and proud of how thoroughly and energetically they maximize those opportunities, both individually and collectively.

By nurturing natural curiosity and encouraging an ability and eagerness to ask the right questions, we develop the critical thinking and reasoning skills necessary for success in every discipline and endeavor. Unafraid to reach beyond our grasp, Randolph learners embrace opportunities, accept difficulty and disappointment, and interpret failure as a chance for a new start.

The Randolph School Idea Path is our faculty-developed, research-based approach to learning to inspire critical thinking. The Idea Path consists of six main components: ask, imagine, plan, create, share, and improve. These elements are long-standing hallmarks of a Randolph education and are transferable to higher educational and professional settings.

At Randolph School, students can expand their ambition and strengthen their innate abilities because we believe in their unlimited potential for personal success. Randolph students are known, trusted, and understood as they nurture their natural curiosity. They evolve into their confident, true selves through the arts, individualized learning, good citizenship, and honor and integrity.
