Roedean Moira House has been rooted in the local community and landscape of Eastbourne since 1888 (established 1875), providing the foundation and richness of opportunity for girls to develop their confidence.
Girls with all interests and abilities from our local and international diverse community thrive as a result of an all-round education model in which we believe that with effort and motivation anything is possible.
As part of our RMH nursery to year 13 family, girls experience small class sizes, a nurturing approach and teaching that gives detailed and tailored support. The experience of girls being surrounded by female role models results in learning without compromise, and allows girls to be themselves and whilst becoming who they want to be.
Roedean’s educational model is to offer a genuinely holistic and academic education which enables pupils to enjoy their education, develop their own interests, and discover their academic passions. We are delighted that girls in Eastbourne and beyond will have access to a Roedean education, which is characterised by a commitment to academic excellence, high-quality pastoral support, and an exceptional range of opportunities beyond the curriculum, all within a family-feel school where girls have the freedom to grow.
With affordability being one of the key issues for parents and the cost of independent day education in Eastbourne often being prohibitive, Roedean Moira House is proud to make independent education more accessible, while maintaining the highest quality and standards.
We are delighted that, significant investment has been put into the School, with two new Science laboratories, an exciting new Junior Playground, wonderful grass tennis courts and refurbished boarding at Boston House, a beautiful building from 1900 with many original features, to an extremely high standard. Roedean Moira House is a home from home - students flourish and explore their talents without limits, in a happy and relaxed atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you to our School.
Academic curiosity, independence, and self-confidence are developed through dynamic and engaging learning and teaching. When you join Roedean Moira House, we will encourage you to develop originality and creativity, both in your character and in your thinking.
Passing exams and assimilating knowledge is important, but you will come to appreciate that it is more valuable to learn to think deeply, critically, and spontaneously, and to challenge and question what you learn.
To complement your learning within the classroom, you will have wide-ranging academic opportunities outside of it, which are of great benefit to your studies and ensure that you will have a breadth and depth of understanding which goes far beyond the confines of the classroom.
At Roedean Moira House, you will be taught by specialists, who are both talented and dedicated, but, most importantly, absolutely passionate about their subjects – this passion is infectious.
Lessons are purposeful, yet relaxed, and strong professional relationships between teachers and students mean that your learning will be productive and paced to your needs.
The girls achieve excellent results in public examinations, and we are extremely proud that the majority leave the school to study at top universities, primarily in the UK, but universities in Europe and America are increasingly popular.
Learning is not just something which happens at school or university, and we hope that you will continue to use the skills you develop at Roedean Moira House throughout your life.
At Roedean Moira House, we expect you to be aspirational and push yourself – with the right encouragement and confidence in your own abilities, you will leave the school believing that you can do anything.
