We are proud of our vibrant learning environment and our exciting curriculum and we are delighted that this is reflected in the way our children view our school. Our children tell us that what they like about their school are ‘the caring teachers’, ‘the exciting lessons', 'the fantastic playground', 'the chance to experience new things' and the way that ‘everyone works together’. Our aim is to help children to grow into confident, articulate and talented individuals, who can function as successful members of the community. We are preparing today's children for tomorrow's world.

We are preparing today's children for tomorrow's world. Our aim is for all our children, irrespective of background or special need, to be prepared for success in their future lives. We will achieve this by nurturing and developing their achievement, their experiences and their skills.

We will strive to enable all children to achieve their full academic potential irrespective of their background or special need. There will be no ceiling on a child's ambition as we will develop the academic skills of our most able children and build a culture where being smart is cool.

We will provide all children with a wide range of enriching experiences. All children will have the opportunity to learn a foreign language, play a musical instrument, participate in high quality sport, visit places of local and national interest and become proficient in the use of technology. To enable our children to leave primary school with the skills to succeed in life, we will promote self-awareness and independence, and the ability to make good decisions and manage relationships. We want our children to develop grit and determination. They will have every opportunity to become confident and articulate thinkers, self-motivated, compassionate and active.

In times of change values are even more important. We must provide public value and be accountable and responsive to our local communities. We are educating children in Manchester, a diverse city with a history of innovation. Our children will have to compete globally, in an ever changing world. We need to be sure that we have a strong set of values to anchor our actions. These values guide us all – leaders, teachers, all staff and everyone working with the school – and drive home the strong ethos of the school.

If your child joins us part way through their primary education our friendly staff will assist you with completing the paperwork and give you a tour of our school. You will also meet your child's new teacher prior to them starting and get all of the information you need to make their first day go as smoothly as possible.

Our goals explain what we will do to implement our vision. We have devised these to help us achieve our aim to change children’s lives for the better. We don’t want a great long list of confusing goals. We think that by keeping it simple and focusing on what we do for the children, the staff and the world beyond the school, we will be in the best position to make the biggest difference.

At Rolls Crescent we are committed to E-Safety. This page will be regularly updated with information and advice to keep parents informed about E-safety and we will provide links to guidance and information that may be useful.

Our personalised approach to learning encourages personal development and promotes high standards while keeping our curriculum broad and exciting. Our aim is to enable children to use and apply their essential literacy, maths and computing skills confidently in the classroom, and in everyday life.

t might sound odd, but we concentrate on the learning and not on the subjects. We know that the best learning happens when connections are made between subjects, and when children are excited and motivated, so we teach English, Maths and Computing in a way that weaves it into a broader range of subjects. When looking at the Vikings, for example, your child may be studying what looks to you like history, but as part of this topic they will be developing their reading, writing and IT skills.

We call these topics ‘big questions’. They encourage pupils to approach subjects from different angles, across disciplines and learning styles. More importantly they help our children to produce some exciting and innovative work.

Everyone who comes into contact with children has a duty of care to safeguard them. School staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help to children and families who need it the most. All the adults working at Rolls Crescent school are aware of their responsibilities and take appropriate action should situations arise which cause them concern. There are systems in place to support safeguarding, this includes designated safeguarding staff, a code of conduct, staff training and policies related to behaviour, safety, positive handling and child protection. We also teach our children how to recognise risks in different situations and how to protect themselves and stay safe. Learning about safety is an important part of our curriculum in school.

The school is also using this time to offer continual professional development for their teachers in physical education. During this time the teachers are team teaching with the One Goal coach during your child's PE lessons. This programme aims to offer sustainability so that teachers can deliver full PE lessons competently with the skills to adapt lessons to suit all children's needs and develop them in the areas.
