Founded in 2005 as a Montessori Pre-School , today Rose House Montessori School operates over three different sites within walking distance, offering mixed aged, beautiful environments for children aged two to eleven years old.
Casita, Casa and Children's House (2.5 - 6 years old) Situated in the wonderful light and airy church hall and adjacent garden in Forest Hill (St George's), our Montessori Children's House gives our children the unique opportunity to explore the entire Montessori Curriculum for the three to six year old. In an environment that offers freedom within boundaries, each child is guided through the hands-on Montessori curriculum which offers a wealth of practical activities and sensorial materials.
Elementary Class (6-11 years old) Around the age of six, having attended a Montessori Children's House, children will have gained a strong sense of self, decision-making ability, a measurable amount self-control, and a sense of responsibility for self, other s and the environment. At this point a child is ready to move into the Elementary Class at our school at The Chapel on the Hill, where they are inspired to learn by being introduced to the concepts of the universe, life on earth and the history of mankind.
Following their own individual learning plan, with English and Maths being the core curriculum areas, each child negotiates with the teacher how they access all the hands-on materials and achieve the stepping stones of the Montessori Elementary curriculum, which is broadly congruent with the National Curriculum.
Rose House Montessori School was inspected by Ofsted in November 2017and graded 'good' in all areas; the school is accredited by the MEAB Montessori Evaluation Board.
Parents deciding to send their child to a Montessori school offer their child more than a good education. At the heart of Montessori education lies the individual child with his unique character and talents. Montessori schools around he world have proven that, if we provide our children with an environment that supports the child's needs along each step of his development, we lay the foundation for our children becoming well rounded personalities, driven by a lifelong desire to learn and making a positive contribution to society. Children who have the opportunity to practice living their lives to the fullest -intellectually, interpersonally, and with independence - today and throughout their school years, will continue to do so for the rest of their lives.
