Royal Alexandra & Albert School

Welcome to our School. The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is a co-educational, non-selective mixed state boarding school for children age 7-18. We are located in a landscaped country estate consisting of 260 acres of beautiful parkland in Gatton Park, near Reigate, Surrey.

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School Act of 1949 united The Royal Alexandra School, which was founded in 1758, and The Royal Albert School, which was founded in 1864 as a national memorial to Prince Albert. We are proud of our royal patronage.

The School has a rich history of over 260 years of providing boarding education for children, and we are extremely proud to continue this tradition today within a close-knit community that welcomes boarding and local flexi boarding pupils. Our focus is to provide an inclusive all-round education that centres on engendering a learning and boarding environment that promotes kindness, resilience, acceptance, tolerance and independence.

Gatton Park with its three lakes, serpentine and 260 acres of parkland provides the ideal setting for our school. Our purpose-built classrooms provide first class facilities for study. Purpose-build boarding houses provide comfortable, modern accommodation for Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary students.

Predominantly a boarding school, we provide continuity of education from seven to eighteen years. Unusually, we are able to provide the very best of boarding education at reasonable charges.

This is a place like no other: we are a state boarding school that provides life-enriching opportunities for all students to rival those of the independent sector.  Our students have access to excellent facilities that include an equestrian centre, a swimming pool and extensive sporting arenas.  The school is set in 260 acres of beautiful parkland landscaped by Capability Brown, but is close enough to major transport hubs, and London, to ensure ease of accessibility.

Students are taught a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum by highly skilled teachers to ensure that they are able to progress to their chosen education and career path.  They also benefit from first class wraparound care provided by compassionate, knowledgeable boarding staff.  We take the time to get to know our young people so that we can best meet their needs in their ‘home-from-home’.  Our co-curricular offer is substantial and progressive, and our young people are able to experience exciting new adventures, as well as hone existing skills.
