Saint Bede Academy

“Saint Bede Academy is a Catholic high school in the Benedictine tradition which endeavors to prepare students for college and for life by welcoming them into a community of learning permeated by Christian values.”

In 1890 St. Bede Academy was founded to provide a Catholic education for young men. Over the years there have been many changes but in the midst of change the monastic community has remained true to its vow of stability and has continued to offer a quality catholic education to prepare young people for further education and their future role in the world and the church.

As a college preparatory school, we ensure our students will be ready to continue their education. Currently, 98% of the Class of 2017 report plans to attend post-secondary education. Our average A.C.T. score for the Class of 2015 is 23.9, Class of 2016 is 23.6 and for the Class of 2017 is 24.7. 13 out of 88 or 14% of the senior class of 2017 were selected as Illinois State Scholars. The class of 2017 also had two National Merit Scholar participants. An amazing 98% of St. Bede students participate in extra-curricular activities. Our objective is to keep students busy! Every experience is a life lesson. The more they do, the more they learn.

The academic environment at St. Bede encourages students to excel, both in and outside of the classroom. We commit to having graduates leave the Academy ready, both spiritually and academically, for life in the real world.

We are dedicated to developing well-rounded, well-prepared citizens who leave St. Bede Academy not only ready to pursue post-secondary studies but with a lifelong commitment to learning. Our graduation requirements ensure that students will have a firm grounding in Christian doctrine and Catholic teaching, will have passed the core English, mathematics, and science courses critical to success at the post-secondary level and will have completed studies in a variety of other areas including foreign languages and the arts.

Through our tri-level academic program, all students are continually challenged to extend their skills and perform to the peak of their abilities. Peer-tutoring, guidance counseling, and other professional services support students in their efforts. We recognize that the involvement of parents and guardians is crucial to student success, and we attempt to strengthen the bond between home and school through frequent formal reports, on-line access to grades and personal contact. A St. Bede graduate is a confident, accomplished young adult ready to meet the challenges outside the walls of the Academy.
