Job Summary
Candidates preferably should
- Possess a Bachelor / Master in Special Education (SPED) or have taken sufficient SPED modules during their course of study. Course of study should include Practicum Teaching component(s) in SPED and transcript should show competence in English if degree is not conducted in English
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience
- Able to collaborate well with colleagues as well as contribute to other departmental and school needs
The key responsibilities include
- Identifying and designing support structures/ strategies, and providing in-class support and/or individual and small-group intervention/ specialised remediation to students with SEN
- Working with school leaders and management team to plan and implement school-wide SEN support programmes such as in transition of students from primary students to secondary school, career development for students with SEN, and providing advice to school policy and procedural obligations relating to students with additional learning needs
- Monitoring the effectiveness of intervention and support (e.g. use of technology, materials and assessment tools) provided for students with SEN regularly and recommending improvements to enhance existing support at the school level. As well as leading in the development of modified and adjusted curriculum for the needs of the students with SEN
- Providing training and support programmes to ensure that staff are supported so as to improve their knowledge and understanding of supporting students with SEN
- Collaborating and consulting with parents and external agencies/ professionals in ensuring the support and well-being of students with SEN
