The role of Senior Lecturer, Module Lead – Nutrition, Metabolism and Excretion involves working in close collaboration with our program, academic and administrative teams across both Universities, the education leads at our healthcare partners, and a wide range of external bodies.

The overarching aims of the Nutrition, Metabolism and Excretion Module are to introduce the structure and function of the alimentary and excretory systems at the anatomical, cellular and molecular level in health. It introduces students to common and serious pathology and etiology, diagnosis and principles of management of associated diseases. The module also aims to provide opportunities for students to gain an understanding of the nutrient requirements of the body and their functions, the metabolism and inter conversions of the major nutrient groups in normal and diseased states and the role of the alimentary and excretory systems in the metabolism and excretion of antibiotics.

Each module on the undergraduate BMBS program provides students with the opportunity to engage with the core content, as well as to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes obtained in other parts of the course. In addition to developing the curriculum and delivering the bulk of core teaching, Module Leads work to ensure that the programs vertical themes are fully integrated. This model is central to our vision of producing graduates with the curiosity and the academic, professional and clinical skills to find global solutions to local challenges – multi-talented individuals whose training will have prepared them to lead, manage and innovate in 21st Century healthcare.

To make your mark in this influential role, you must be an enthusiastic innovator with a healthy attitude to change and new challenges, plus a co-operative approach that matches our own. You will be suitably qualified, with substantial expertise and experience in delivering undergraduate medical, bio sciences or healthcare education. In particular you should have a proven interest and background in the core content of the module and education in this domain. Ideally you will have recent experience of: student selection, curriculum design and delivery including course evaluation, assessment, use of portfolios, electronic learning and assessment, and inter-professional learning.
