Senior Traction Power Engineer

Job Summary

Come work with the Jacobs UAE Ports & Maritime / Rail traction power group Middle East projects as a Senior Traction Power Engineer. Able to work independently with support from the group. Active participation in providing:

• Design development of transit and rail traction power projects.
• Technical design for project aspects such as traction power substation and distribution design associated with conceptual engineering.
• Detailed engineering designs, and preparation of transit/rail contract documents for construction.

Responsibilities include

• Using code compliant electrical engineering practices to develop designs and reports.
• Preparing power system studies for AC and DC electrified railway systems.
• Supporting and prepare computer simulations and studies including AC and DC load flow, short-circuit availability, motor-starting, and protective relay coordination studies.
• Performing site investigations in substations and along railroad tracks.
• Reviewing contractor shop drawings and testing submittals.
• Supporting the preparation of technical and cost proposals.
• Supporting the preparation of proposal interview presentations.
• Actively participating in Quality Control of design for completeness and accuracy.
• Factory Acceptance Testing representing client at manufacturer’s plant.

Here’s What You’ll Need

As a successful candidate you will have an Electrical Engineering Degree with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in electrical design. Experience in electrified railway (3rd rail or Overhead Contact System) substation and power distribution systems design to include AC and DC rail transit traction power substations, Wayside cable plant, Circuit breakers, Switchgear, Transformers, Rectifiers, SCADA and PLC control systems and Relay protection. You will be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit. Professional accreditation preferred.
