Seokyeong University

Seokyeong University came into being as Hankook University at 2-ka, Changchung-dong, Chung-gu, Seoul, on October 22, 1947.he university was the first evening school authorized as a four-year university to provide education to people who wanted to work by day and attend school by night. This would enable people to help rebuild their devastated nation after the liberation from Japanese colonial rule.

In addition, with a dedication to cultivating leaders of distinguished characters and capabilities, we strive for “the most future-oriented” university of the 21st century and “the most practically-oriented” in our age of IT knowledge and professional expertise. We are making a strenuous effort to foster practical and professional skills, international perspectives alongside the noble characters needed to be possessed by the leaders.

More specifically, students are required to demonstrate computer proficiency as well as English communication skills. By expanding duel-degree and exchange programs with sister universities in the United States, Japan, China, Russia and Taiwan the university has been preparing students to meet the demands of IT-driven and internationalizing world.

Provided with fully modernized research facilities and free, yet vigorous intellectual pursuit, our campus is a home for continuously re-generating Seokyeong University. These new Seokyeong youths are truly making remarkable strides toward becoming the ideal, people that our 61 years of history can be very will proud of.

Seokyeong has 625 eminent faculty members who are conducting cutting-edge research across all academic disciplines. Seokyeong consists of 7 divisions and 15 departments in 4 colleges as well as Graduate School of Business & Public Administration, Graduate School of Beauty Art, 13 affiliated orgarizations and 12 affiliates reserch institutes.

Within a highly foreseeable future Seokyeong University will become one of the top ten research and pedagogical dedication and an institution committed to re-distributing its good to the less-blessed of society.

Seokyeong University strives to study and teach those profound theories and their practical application which are necessary for the development of our country and the world. Through an education which emphasizes development of the whole person, young people are encouraged to become men and women of wisdom, benevolence, and valor who possess sound ideals in addition to expert training and academic discipline.

Currently, Seokyeong University consists of 7 divisions and 15 departments in 4 colleges as well as Graduate School of Business & Public Administration, Graduate School of Beauty Art, 12 affiliated organizations and 12 affiliated research institutes. It has completed the construction of the state of art library with 10 stories above ground and 6 below, covering 91,022 square meter in size. With a joint effort of all the faculty and staff and approximately 7,000 students, the university has persistently pressed on to achieve its long-term vision of 1013, stretching out to its full length to become one of the nation’s best universities in practical education.

The university has been with the people for the past 50 years. It is a university of the people, concerned about the future of the nation. In the time of globalization, it aims to be “a University with a National Identity” that coexists and is compatible with international society, while keeping the spirit of national identity. Based upon its long history and tradition, the University aims to develop as “an Advanced University” for the 21st Century that leads others nationally and internationally in educational and research activities.
