Shanghai HD School

Established in September 2016, Shanghai HD School is a private experimental school with a global vision for the future, where east meets west. HD School provides the comprehensive and international education solution for Chinese families who seek an authentic international education. Blending the best of international educational philosophy with Chinese curriculum, HD School provides students with a comprehensive and balanced learning experience, where tradition meets creativity and East meets West.

Rooted in traditional Chinese culture, HD School not only develops students to become excellent heralds of Chinese culture to the world, but also by integrating high-quality educational resources and absorbing innovative educational concepts, supports scholars to understand the world and develop cross-cultural adaptability and ability of collaboration, so that they will become global talents.

HD School serves students in our TD Nursery through to A Level Programme. Each homeroom is supported by a national teacher and an international teacher, and each homeroom of lower grades is also facilitated by a learning facilitator, which features in the “Tight Three” model of class management unique to HD Schools.

Our vision is to nurture globally aware Chinese citizens rooted in their own heritage yet passionate about their engagement with the wider world.

It is the responsibility of all teachers and leaders within the Group to prepare the students in their charge for the next stage of their educational journey, at whatever point on the HD path they find themselves. Teachers should at all stages on this journey seek to inspire their pupils with a common HD language that comprises both rigour and imagination and is tailored to the needs of each individual pupil whilst reflecting the Group’s core values. All members of the Group should likewise promote a shared educational philosophy that emphasises the flourishing of the whole person, the soul and body as well as the intellect, and one which gives each member of the community, including the most vulnerable, his or her own dignity.
