From Singapore, the strategic hub of Asia, SMU applies its knowledge and global perspective in an Asian context to bridge concepts and provide critical insights. SMU research aims to create significant impact through five Areas of Excellence. The Office of Research & Tech Transfer (ORTT) is the institutional office overseeing and supporting a variety of research-related matters at the University level. ORTT works with the various SMU Schools, Institutes, Centres and Labs (ICLs), and other University administration offices such as the Office of Finance (OFN), and the Office of Legal and General Affairs (OLGA) to provide support to researchers across the research project life cycle.

It was in 1997 that the Singapore government first mooted the idea of a third university for Singapore. Then Deputy Prime Minister Dr Tony Tan believed that the new university should be different from the two established institutions - the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The government wanted SMU to be an experiment in diversity.
The experiment began with the choice of the Chairman of the new institution, Mr Ho Kwon Ping, a renowned and successful business entrepreneur. He was joined by an SMU task force of academics, including Professor Tan Chin Tiong, who determined that SMU should be an American-style university offering a broad-based education, in contrast to Singapore's tradition of the more specialised British model.

As a flourishing and vibrant city-state at the meeting point of the East and West, Singapore offers a unique experience that prepares you to live as a global citizen. Singapore embraces multiculturalism where different local and global ethnicities live harmoniously and diversity is viewed as a virtuous strength.Given its strategic geographical setting, political stability, open business policies and strong infrastructure, Singapore has segued over the last few decades from a regional entrepot of choice for many multinational organisations to over 300 Fortune 500 companies housing their Asia Pacific headquarters. I have attended a few courses at SMU Academy and the whole process from registration to administering the courses is done smoothly and efficiently. Customer service staff also attended to my queries promptly. The courses are also informative and the instructors for the courses I attended (financial modelling and financial analysis) try to make their classes as relevant to the workplace as possible. A good experience overall.

One of the finest universities with best infrastructure and facilities for the students for education.. Apart from Education - I see many activities and events organised by the university to bring out students talent and giving exposure towards every aspects in their future.. Good food court, Sub Way, General Clinic and Dental clinic in the building helps in all ways. Library with enormous no of curriculum and other genre books benefits many.. You got Gym to build up your body .. SMU Admin build has swimming pool as well but I think not everyone can use it .. They use all the places well with study desks and power points even in the MRT basement to utilise the space the most.. You can see students selling ( for curriculum practice of business) and dancing for leisure anywhere in the campus gives a lively environment.. I love it..

The course venue is very good. The seats are in a circular shape and there are power sockets under every seats. The wifi connection is average. The screens that the trainer used are big and they are able to freeze on the screen when he pressed on it. He also has screens that were positioned in front of him so that he can see what screens he is flashing.

My daughter did her exchange program here for a semester and she’s so proud of this school. It taught her a lot and introduced her to new friends. I visited the place and it is a great place to learn in.
