Spring break is a vacation period for schools and universities that takes place in early spring. This holiday period is also referred to as Easter holiday, Easter vacation, spring vacation, Easter week, April break, Mid-term Break, and so on depending on the region. Spring vacation is usually linked to mass gatherings and parties held in warm climate destinations such as Florida and Cancun.
Spring break is a school tradition mostly observed in Western countries. The April break is scheduled at different times during the academic year depending on the region or state. In the United States, the origin of the Easter Break dates back to the 1930s. The first observation of Spring Break can be traced back to 1938 during a swimming event that took place in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. By the 1960’s, student turnout skyrocketed and local businesses took advantage of this influx by offering attractive and affordable products.

Kuwait
In Kuwait, spring break is observed between school semesters, usually in December or January, and sometimes lasts until early February. The break usually lasts for about 2 to 3 weeks. The date is dependent on some holidays in the Lunar or Hijri calendar mostly used in Arab and Muslim countries.
South Korea
In South Korea, the mid-term break takes place from mid-February, which is the end of the academic year, to March 1st, which marks the start of the new academic year.
Czech Republic
In the Czech Republic, spring break only applies to primary and secondary school students. The vacation lasts for one week and the date varies from one country to the next to prevent overcrowding. The first group usually begins their spring vacation on the first Monday of February while the last group begins five weeks later, mostly in early March.
Germany
In Germany, it is common for universities to break for spring for about 5 to 8 weeks in March. Pentecost holidays observed during late March or early June are also part of spring.
Portugal
In Portugal, spring break is referred to as Easter Holiday and is celebrated by all students for two weeks.
Russia
In Russia, Easter Break has been observed from as early as 1917. Usually, individual schools determine the dates for this vacation but it usually falls in mid-April.
Spain
In Spain, the Easter Break is not observed. However, schools are closed during the Holy Week which occurs during the last week of Lent, coinciding with Easter break.
Canada
In Canada, elementary schools and secondary schools enjoy a one or two week break during the month of March. However, the date and times vary from one province to the next.
United States
In the U.S., the Easter Break takes place during March and April, usually depending on the Easter holiday celebration and term dates.
