Choosing the right school for your child is vitally important. Most parents want a good education for their children, but they also want them to be happy and to feel safe and secure. At St. Bernadette’s we believe we can offer all these things. We pride ourselves on the broad, balanced and full Catholic education we provide from the Foundation Phase through to the end of Key Stage 2, and the high standards of the teaching and learning are a credit to the hard work of both staff and pupils.

Equally we are also proud of the atmosphere of friendliness and co-operation which is always evident. Many visitors to the school comment on the warm welcome they receive and the politeness and maturity of our pupils. Our last Estyn Inspection Report noted that, ‘Pupils participate conscientiously in lessons and are keen to learn,’ and that ‘They demonstrate a high level of tolerance and respect towards each other. We do value our pupils and we believe that their time in school should be rewarding and fulfilling.

This is evident in both of the school’s two inspections, by Estyn and the Archdiocese of Cardiff who commented that our ‘pupils have a strong sense of belonging and are proud of their school.’ More extracts from both of these inspections are included in the handbook.St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School is a Christ centred community within the parish of St. Philip Evans, providing Catholic education through its distinctive character. Pupils are able to develop physically, intellectually, social, morally and spiritually and experience “Christianity as a living reality” (Vat II). We provide an interesting, stimulating curriculum within a continually developing Catholic environment. To support this we:

  • Lead the whole school community to a positive awareness of God
  • Affirm the relationship which exists between home, parish and school
  • Meet the personal and spiritual needs of the whole school community God is present in all that happens within school.

Every area of our lives, as different as they are, enters into the plan of God, who desires that these very areas be places where the love of Christ is revealed and realised for both the glory of the Father and service of others.
