The sentiments expressed in Our Mission Statement clearly state that this is a place where we love, learn and grow joyfully fulfilling our dreams. The Family of St. Cuthbert’s School is very special and is a place where every child is known, loved and encouraged to be their best.

We are currently in a very exciting time at St. Cuthbert’s where we are in the process of a transitional phase of rediscovering the Outstanding status of St. Cuthbert’s famous history and tradition. Many changes are currently taking place in St.

We are confident that all members of our school community, staff, governors parents and carers, Fr. Brendan and the parishioners of St. Cuthbert’s will be able to work together for the benefit of all our children in a spirit of mutual, trust, respect, understanding and love. Our ambition for all our children is for them to be happy, confident, successful and resilient individuals who will grow up to be inspirational and caring adults.

As one of our favourite Spanish songs tells us Digo si Señor, (I say Yes, my Lord) We teach the children to say “Yes” to what ever Our Lord asks of us, no matter what ever the challenge or situation is.God has given each of us special talents and here at St. Cuthbert’s we strive to provide numerous opportunities for all of us to reach our potential and for our community to be “Inspired To Be Our Best”. This we do relentlessly and always with a St. Cuthbert’s smile.

We aim to provide opportunities and experiences that will help everyone to participate in individual and shared prayers, liturgy and worship, supporting each person's own journey of faith. We strive to provide by example, a welcoming, loving and caring environment where the uniqueness of each member is recognised and valued.

Parents and carers who wish to apply for a place for their child at St Cuthbert's are welcome to make an appointment with the Headteacher to visit the school. The Headteacher will be pleased to show any parent who is thinking of applying for a place around the school and to talk about the school and the admission process. You are welcome to make an application for admission on the appropriate admission form. The Admission Authority for our school is the Governing Body: they make the decisions about admissions to our school. All Admissions will be made in accordance with the school's Admission Policy.

An integral part of our school is our Nursery; we offer places for 30 children and follow the same criteria for admission to school. Please note that an offer of a place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the Reception class.Parents and carers will be asked to apply for a place in Reception in the January prior to the start of the school year in which their child will be eligible for a place in Reception. This process is managed city wide by the Local Authority Admissions Team who will contact parents directly.

St Cuthbert’s RC Primary School is a Catholic Primary School under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Salford. It is maintained by Manchester Authority. As a Voluntary Aided School, the Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admissions. The co-ordination of admissions arrangements is undertaken by the Local Authority. For the school year commencing September 2016, the Governing Body has set its admissions number at 45.Admissions to the school will be made by the Governing Body. All preferences listed on the Local Authority Preference Form will be considered on an equal basis with the following set of Admissions Criteria forming a priority order where there are more applications for admissions than the school has places available.

Our school is an inclusive school where every child matters; we aim to address children’s needs and support their development in the most appropriate way possible and celebrate effort as much as achievement. Here, at St Cuthbert’s, we believe that quality first teaching will enable our pupils to make good progress and reach their potential. However, there are sometimes barriers to learning which prevent some children from making as much progress as we would hope and this is when additional support or advice may be required.

As a Roman Catholic school our mission is to love our children and help them to live their lives as ambassadors of Christ. Childhood is a learning journey and the skills and values children gather on their journey through school help them to become happy and successful adults. We help children understand that, whilst we may sometimes disapprove of their behaviour, they, as individuals, are still valued and loved. Any sanctions imposed will therefore be in this context. The emphasis is on rewarding those children who consistently meet our expectations of behaviour whilst supporting those who find it a challenge to do so. There are plentiful opportunities to reward, celebrate and reinforce desired behaviour.

The ‘Behaviour Watch’ system ensures we have a rigorous tracking system. This allows us to identify children with challenging behaviour and those who may be vulnerable to bullying behaviour. If children fall into either category they are highlighted to all teachers and teaching assistants at weekly business meetings. This enables close monitoring of potential bullying behaviour such that it can be stopped swiftly.
