We are a two form entry primary school for ages 3 -11, in the London Borough of Tower hamlets, with extended provision from 8.00am to 6.00pm each day. Ofsted has said we are a ‘Good’ school. Our school motto “We are striving for excellence in a caring Catholic community” reflects our high aspirations and ambitions for children and there is a driving determination to ensure that all pupils and adults in the school reach their full potential. We are never complacent and are continually looking for ways in which we can improve the school further.

St Elizabeth is a happy and inclusive school of which our children are proud. We want them to have special and happy memories of their time at St Elizabeth. It is always our aim to keep the school open. However extreme weather conditions may mean we have to close the school early so all children and staff can get home safely.

We are extremely proud of our school and the achievements of our pupils. St Elizabeth has always had a good reputation and good results. Although, in the last inspection St Elizabeth was graded “Requires Improvement”, much has been done in the last year, including ambitious leadership, effective school improvements, quality teaching and learning, community development and partnerships, all ensure that we are on the right track to becoming an excellent school.

We aim to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which we seek to maximise every child’s potential, nurturing self-confidence and self-esteem to enable them to make the most of their talents. Our commitment to bringing out the best in every child is reflected in our desire to promote:

  • RELATIONSHIPS that are positive, happy and confident
  • RESILIENCE where successful learners get through challenges
  • RESPONSIBILITY so our young people see the bigger picture
  • RESPECT for our community, world and people

As a community we work together to create an environment that enables our children to realize their potential and to confidently grow into fulfilled and rounded adults who will make a positive contribution to the world. We are proud to be able to call this an inclusive school, meaning that we welcome all children and work hard to meet all their needs.

We value a strong relationship with parents as partners in the education process. Working closely with the wider community enables each child to make the best possible progress and to gain maximum benefit from all the opportunities this school offers.

At St Elizabeth we strive to equip our pupils with the necessary skills to demonstrate how they actively promote and embed British values as well as the critical thinking skills to challenge values and concepts contrary to fundamental British values. We believe that Christian values and British values are not mutually exclusive. The recognition that all people are to be valued regardless of beliefs, background or ethnic origin is reflected in the school’s Equality Statement and deeply rooted in the school’s Mission Statement and Aims.

The school actively promotes British values and makes considerable efforts to ensure children have exposure to a wide experience beyond their local community. Subsequently, these concepts can be applied to personal experience and be further demonstrated through sporting events, visits, involvement with fund raising, and charity events.
