Welcome to St. Hilda's College, a community where the academic excellence and the personal development combine to create an exceptional education experience.
"To ensure that each student achieves his or her maximum intellectual, physical and cultural potential, in an academic environment which develops character, work ethics, discipline and respect for Christian values, especially tolerance and concern for others, within a framework of a bilingual, international curriculum.”
Kindergarten is a crucial stage in the life of every individual, which is why we aim at the full development of each child’s skills. At St. Hilda’s, children from the age of two receive an education according to their developmental stages and needs.
From the linguistic standpoint, our emphasis is placed on the acquisition of the English language. From an early age we offer children the opportunity to acquire the language naturally, through play and games. We plan thematic units, sequences and projects both in Spanish and English. Our goal is to mould curious, creative and happy human beings and to provide them with the tools necessary for our world today.
Our Kindergarten also offers recreational activities such as art, physical education and music so that each one of our students can find the area of expression that they enjoy best and get the most out of it.
Instilling a sensitivity for the love and care of the environment is one of our priorities and we have the advantage of counting on wide open, green spaces which favour exploration and contact with nature. The school day takes place in a warm, safe and stimulating atmosphere.
We are an educational community committed to high quality, global education which fosters Christian values and encourages lifelong learning and the passion for excellence.
Our doors are open to whoever wants to come and get to know our Kindergarten.
At Primary level, with the focus on the student as a centre, we apply pedagogies that generate knowledge, inter-relate information and stimulate personal development. We implement integrated, inter-disciplinary projects within a framework of constant learning.
Students acquire fluency in both English and Spanish through the progressive acquisition of knowledge and skills in both languages and cultures. An integrated bilingual curriculum is developed that complies with the official regulations and the English national curriculum. From an early age, literacy is achieved with parallel programmes in both languages.
In both languages, a demanding reading plan and literary activities that help to develop the language and creativity are shared. In addition, and applied to all curricular areas, we encourage collaboration and teamwork, creativity and critical thinking, clear expression and self-directed learning from an early age.
Personal reflection, careful listening, tolerance towards differences, critical judgment and the expression of ideas are all encouraged. Through the development of a Values Project, we encourage what is expressed in our mission, in order to achieve a student profile that stands out for their ethics as well as their academic results.
The context of the Primary School is framed within the boundaries of love and respect, where learning is enjoyed with responsibility and dedication.
St. Hilda’s Secondary school offers a bilingual curriculum in which approximately 60% of the subjects are taught in English. We combine the prestige and traditions of a centenarian institution with those 21st century technologies and pedagogies that are so relevant to enhance learning today. We constitute an exams oriented school in which Cambridge International examinations are a very important aspect of our students’ education and go along with the national Spanish curriculum. In the upper forms, the selection of the different exams for our students is to a great extent tailored to their inclinations and abilities; these examinations develop their critical thinking and prepare them for decision-making in their future careers. Additionally, our students have the opportunity of participating in several additional activities such as Public Speaking, Writing, Maths and Singing competitions, Art and Choir Festivals, EMUN (ESSARP Model of the United Nations), sports tournaments and many others that are a bonus to their education.
Although our Secondary school is oriented towards Natural Sciences, our curriculum is also strong in Sports, Music and Arts, which we consider fundamental in the forming of character, virtues and values. We also encourage Community Service in a series of programmes and activities that aim at creating social awareness, empathy and leadership skills for the common good. As well, our School Orientation team has an important role in providing workshops and education to both students and parents on topics that are of the community’s concern. In short, our Secondary school seeks to educate and form young men and women who are academically prepared to step confidently into the modern world and are also solid in Christian and human values.
