The St Michael’s College community is comprised of a diverse range of cultural, social and religious backgrounds, all aspiring to a common purpose – for young people to flourish and be the best they can be.

You will find our staff, students and families working together to create an inclusive and respectful community where each individual is known, valued and cared for. This relational environment enables each person to feel confident to explore their curiosities, likes and interests, to flourish and to fully realise their potential.

At St Michael’s College, you will witness personal growth through engagement, opportunity and recognition. Students will be part of a positive learning culture that is authentic, challenging and supportive, no matter who they are, where they come from or what they aspire to. Essentially, through a quality, Lasallian education, inspired by the Gospel and a genuine concern for social justice, St Michael’s students will be empowered to better choose who they become as people, learners and leaders in the world.

St Michael’s College is a Catholic school in the Lasallian tradition which is committed to the human and Christian education of the young, especially the poor, through:

We are an inclusive and respectful community where each individual is known, valued and cared for, enabling them to feel confident to explore their curiosities, flourish and fully realise their potential.

Individual growth is achieved through engagement, opportunity and recognition, underpinned by a positive learning culture that is authentic, challenging and supportive.

Through a quality Lasallian education, inspired by the Gospel and a concern for social justice, students are empowered to better choose who they become as people, learners and leaders in the world.

The St Michael’s College experience is guided by the Lasallian core principles of faith, respect, service, and community.

Since the beginning, our ethos remains unchanged: ‘To touch the hearts of your pupils and inspire them with the Christian spirit is the greatest miracle you can perform.’

Lasallian education dates back to the 17th century to French priest St John Baptist de La Salle – founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Brothers). St John Baptist de La Salle established schools that welcomed all, particularly socially and economically-deprived boys. Reflecting the values of Jesus Christ, St John Baptist de La Salle inspired a tradition that now spans over 80 countries.

St Michael’s works in close partnership with the Missionary of the Sacred Heart Fathers (MSC), who continue to act as Chaplains to the College.

We fulfil the mission and vision of St Michael’s College through celebrations, service within the inner and wider community, social justice activities, and strong, respectful connections with peers and staff. The Religious Education curriculum and the social action program, especially Mission Action Day (MAD) support this. Students are encouraged to support the less fortunate in society through fundraising and food drives.

We place a strong emphasis on activities that foster the unique and individual talents of students. A key feature of the College includes involvement with Lasallian Youth Ministry – young people ministering to their peers. Participation and teamwork is encouraged to progressively equip students with the self-esteem necessary to cope with future challenges. Involvement in the Forward for Justice (F4J) group develops social awareness and leadership skills.
