We are a Catholic school rooted in the gospel values of love, respect and forgiveness. We aim to be a learning community where everybody achieves success.
We achieve this by having:
We are all very proud of our achievements in the last three years and are determined that our school will keep on improving.The school is led by an Executive Headteacher, Mr Peter Johnson, and Head of School Mrs Nicky Knowles. Together, with all the staff, we strive to make St Peter’s a school which gives the children the very best primary education that we can give. We do this with a creative and relevant curriculum which inspires and motivates pupils to become the best that they can be.At St Peter’s our Catholic faith permeates through school. We Love Jesus, Love learning, Love life. Our Mission Statement underpins all that we do. We have broken this down into key words that are the attitudes we want our children to have. We call these our Bee Attitudes.
The school’s role is to participate in the mission of the Catholic Church by providing a curriculum, including Catholic religious education and worship, which will help children to grow in their understanding of the Good News and in the practice of their faith. The school will help the children develop fully as human beings and prepare them to undertake their responsibilities as Catholics in society. The school requires all parents applying for a place here to understand and respect this ethos and its importance to the school community. This does not affect the rights of parents who are not of the Catholic faith to apply for a place here. Admissions to The School will be determined by the Governing Body. Parents must complete a Local Authority Preference Form or apply online via the website.
A person who has been baptised in a separate ecclesial community and subsequently received into full communion with the Catholic Church by the Rite of Reception of Baptised Christians into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church, written evidence of their reception into full communion with the Catholic Church can be obtained by recourse to the Register of Receptions, or in some cases a sub-section of the Baptismal Registers of the Church in which the Rite of Reception took place.
The Governing Body will require written evidence in the form of a Certificate of Reception before applications for school places can be considered for categories of ‘Baptised Catholics’. A Certificate of Reception is to include full name, date of birth, date of reception and parent(s) name(s). The certificate must also show that it is copied from the records kept by the place of reception.
Those who have difficulty obtaining written evidence of baptism for a good reason, may still be considered as baptised Catholics but only after they have been referred to the parish priest who, after consulting with the [appropriate diocesan authority] will decide how the question of baptism is to be resolved and how written evidence is to be produced in accordance with the law of the Church.
Visits into school are one way in which governors can increase their knowledge of the school. The knowledge and understanding gained during visits enables governors to carry out their roles of strategic leadership, monitoring and evaluation and holding the school to account for its performance.
The teaching staff work with parents to support their children with their emotional development and well-being. If there is a concern about the welfare of a child, school staff will report this to the Designated Person for Safeguarding.
We have measures in place to protect our pupils in school including;
At St. Peter’s Catholic primary School we reinforce these values regularly through our everyday practises and work. Through its curriculum, extra-curricular activities, teaching and learning this school will promote British values. By doing so we will ensure that all learners understand the values that have traditionally underpinned British society. The teaching of these values will promote cohesiveness within our school and community. We will prepare pupils for life in England where the population has an increasingly rich diversity of backgrounds, origins, beliefs and cultures by promoting the values on which our society has been built. By teaching pupils these values we will help all to become good citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
