St. Winefride's is a voluntary aided Catholic Primary School within the Diocese of Wrexham and Flintshire Education Authority and caters for children from the Foundation Phase to Year 6. The present St. Winefride's Primary School building is over 30 years old and situated in a beautiful position overlooking the River Dee. We currently have approximately 167 pupils on roll which includes 26 part time nursery children.
Here at St Winefride's we are also able to offer wrap around care for children from 8am when they are able to attend breakfast club right through to 5.30pm as they are able to attend creche after school.
The aim of our school is to create and maintain a family atmosphere and Catholic way of life by encouraging high standards of Christian living, teaching and learning, relationships and behaviour. These aims are firmly rooted in our Mission Statement of:
'Learning and growing together in the love of Christ'. St. Winefride's Catholic Primary School is committed to creating a secure, caring, stimulating family environment. This is based on the teaching of Jesus Christ and stems from Gospel values, in which children can learn and grow spiritually, morally, socially and intellectually within the framework of the Catholic faith, taking into account their different backgrounds.
At St Winefride's Catholic Primary School we have spacious playing fields, a large school hall, 8 classrooms including our ocean room which provides an area for small group provision. Welsh Ministers have used the Education (Wales) Act 2014 to make legislative changes to how term dates are set in order to enable harmonisation of school term dates for all maintained schools.
These changes mean that local authorities and the governing bodies of voluntary aided and foundation schools can be directed by the Welsh Ministers on what their term dates must be if those dates are not harmonised, or if they need changing.
