STEAM International Kindergarten

STEAM International Kindergarten is 100% focused on the children. We respect that each child is a unique individual who develops at his or her own pace. We foster an inclusive environment where we enable students to safely explore diversified thinking, thereby nurturing their naturally inquisitive minds and innate love of learning. Our personalized leaning approach encourages all students to explore, inquire and create, supporting them to reach their full potential.

With a focus on intellectual learning, our engaging and innovative curricula care for the development of the whole child in order to nurture a well-rounded, confident and knowledgeable individual. We provide a secure, stimulating and spacious environment for students’ physical, emotional and intellectual development.

STEAM International Kindergarten and Preschool is the only kindergarten in Hong Kong offering the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), PSHE (Physical, Social, Health and Emotional) and CCSS (US Common Core State Standards) curricula.

STEAM International Kindergarten (STEAMis) is Hong Kong’s only STEAM Kindergarten. Our curriculum and partnership with NASA enables our students to have the innovative and personalized learning experience that every child deserves. For the first time in history, children in this region can learn from NASA professors and engineers via distance learning. While many schools still focus on Academic Learning in the classroom, our approach embraces Intellectual Learning where students are able to develop reasoning, teamwork and problem solving skills. They are able to relate use the tools taught in the classroom with real life situations, making what they learn, meaningful.

With our strong US based Common Core English and Math Standards, plus our Personal, Social, Health, and Emotional Curriculum (PSHE), completed with NASA Education, our students will be equipped with the instruments necessary to succeed in lifelong learning.

Our spacious environment adjacent to a large playground and overlooking the Victoria harbor is the ideal learning environment for young minds. STEAMis offers bilingual (English-Mandarin) and trilingual (Cantonese-English-Mandarin) streams to suit the different needs of both local and international families. Our full immersion classroom nurtures language while recognizing important values of all cultures.

Each child is an individual with diverse learning styles. STEAM International Kindergarten provides personalized learning where students can learn and develop at their own paces. STEAMis embraces all the talents of our students and aids all children to reach their full potential.

It is such an honor and privilege that STEAMis is in exclusive partnership with NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and Space Center Houston in bringing NASA Live Distance Learning to students in Hong Kong and China. NASA, well known for innovation and exploration, brings an entirely creative education concept to STEAMis and our students.

As a forerunner in STEAM kindergarten education, we embrace the challenges that accompany ideas that defy tradition. Our team is fully prepared to partake in this exciting endeavor in the transformation of early childhood education so that our students and those to come can fully experience the love of learning.

With our educational partner, STEAM International Academy, we provide various interest classes for our own students as well as students attending other schools. Our courses include tutoring, art classes, playgroups and NASA Live Distance Leaning to children in Primary and Secondary school.

Our playgroups are a favorite among parents! It encourages the infants and tots to channel their abundant energy into motor skills development. Our curriculum trains their focus and attention span, language skills and creativity. Older children who regularly attend our STEAM International Playgroup may have priority entrance into our Preschool.

STEAMis has a flexible Extended Program for parents who wish for their children to attend a longer school day. This program fosters children’s independence, self-care, cooperation and self-soothing skills. Our teachers will facilitate Extended Program with lessons including language (Cantonese, Mandarin, English), performing arts, sports, environmental education, visual arts, STEAM and more!

STEAM International Kindergarten welcomes all like-minded parents and guardians to apply to our school. Our application, interview and admission process is mindful to the various needs of families and children. Our inclusive approach and environment ensures that each student receives a personalized education, designed and implemented to encourage students to reach their full potential.

We accept applications throughout the school year. However, since placement is subject to space availability, we suggest parents apply early. STEAMis also provides a through-train system for regualr STEAMis Playgroup students who apply to our Preschool, in order to facilitate a smooth and stress-free transition.

For children to thrive in today’s world, they need both breadth and depth in their educational experience. STEAMis fosters interdisciplinary learning across all our core subjects with six main focus themes including Our Planet, Family, Emotions, Social Studies, Community, and Histories and Discoveries. We also give students ample opportunity to explore their boundaries and cultivate uniquely differentiated strengths.

Diverse language skills are important for success in a world that is growing smaller. In our Bilingual Stream, all subjects are taught in Mandarin (traditional Chinese) and English. With full language immersion in the classroom students are integrated into a fully bilingual learning environment and are able to communicate freely and confidently in both languages. In our Trilingual stream, Mandarin, Cantonese and English are used in equal parts throughout the school day.
