Tabor Academy, an ambitious and supportive boarding school community where students in grades 9-12 take risks, challenge themselves, mentor others and prepare to lead as they live and learn in our school by the sea. Located on an 88-acre campus on the shores of Massachusetts’ Buzzards Bay, Tabor offers a unique learning experience based on the premise that we go further together.

Tabor enrolls students demonstrating academic ability, strong motivation, sound character, emotional stability, and a willingness to participate fully in the school community. Tabor is founded on the belief that a healthy school community finds common ground while embracing differences and, therefore, accepts a racially, ethnically, religiously, economically, and internationally diverse student body. Tabor students are expected to respect one another and to care for their school.

Tabor's academic, artistic, athletic, and community programs provide distinctive opportunities for students to achieve genuine understanding and significant skills and to identify and pursue personal goals. As the "school by the sea," Tabor sustains a unique maritime heritage that embodies, in all its programs, the qualities a seagoing life requires: thoughtful preparation for and awareness of the wider world, perseverance, courage, good humor, a sense of direction, and humility. Tabor's faculty commit themselves to balancing high demands with genuine affection for their students and to fostering relationships founded on the compassion, personal integrity, and trust that anchor Tabor's community.

Tabor's mission calls upon us to instill a life-long love of learning; to inspire a passion for high standards of achievement; to foster personal responsibility; and to encourage care for others and committed citizenship. These are the life habits most valued at Tabor, the ones most important to entering and exploring the horizons of the wider world. Here in this diverse and talented community, buoyed by a strong and supportive faculty and accomplished peers, there is the opportunity to begin to shape a meaningful and committed life, a future of engagement and accomplishment well beyond what you might presently see as your horizon.

The Student Life Office embraces a mission that includes the recognition that Tabor’s success as a 21st century school is embedded in a genuine understanding of how the components of diversity (race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, religion, intellectual and physical ability, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, family structure, language and geographic place of origin) reflect the core values of our school’s mission, which is rooted in compassion, respect, trust, honesty, and personal responsibility.

The Co-Directors of Equity and Inclusion are supported by the Diversity Leadership Council (DLC) which establishes policies, practices and programs that support the interconnectedness of the aforementioned cultural identifiers and further develop the cultural competency of our community’s members to allow for true dialogue and collaboration within our school and with local, regional, national, and international communities. In addition, the recent creation of IMPACT, a multicultural group of students across grade levels, will supplement the work of the DLC by promoting awareness of diversity, equity, and social justice issues that particularly impact the student body.

To that end, Tabor is committed to helping support a community in which all members have voice, are given respect and see their identities reflected and affirmed in the curriculum, co-curriculum, and physical and virtual environments of the school.

Applied learning has been the Tabor way since our earliest days when students hand-built “batter boats” to race against each other. While students still build and race boats today, they also apply knowledge and technical skills across the curriculum through projects in arts, drama, engineering, science, humanities and leadership experiences.

Tabor values teamwork -- not only on the field, but also through academics, arts, campus leadership and more. Seawolves quickly learn that the value of a team is not about wins and losses but about learning how to be a great teammate, showing our Tabor pride, and supporting our classmates. That's our culture; it's how we roll!
